> Find a better solution, or accept that you're driving away eyeballs/revenue. Let's approach this from another angle for a moment - a hypothetical provider with no numbers/revenue; zero, zip. Where should they start?

I think there'll be many people who would find a comment like this suspicious and question its overall validity. There's a lot of stuff the US government (and NSA) touches that isn't suspect - do we need to start making a l

Either way it's probably good for Google's reputation for them to roll their own. After all, they don't exactly have as high a standing as Apple appears to have for some things?

This reminds me of Twitter mixed with a dose of slave-wage Mechanical Turk labour. Although with Twitter, the signal to noise ratio is much lower than 1% but I think you get my drift. Granted there are "gems" to be found anywhere

The repeated stories so far have suggested that there's a passage that's too narrow for both a tank and person to fit through at the same time.

There's less oxygen available with a face mask. It should also be noted that NASA has an inflatable module that's being tested against space, but I don't know if there's any similarity here.

What perplexes me is that there are now even more competing messaging services than ever before. This suggests to me that none have won.

I'm being semi facetious, but what does Matrix offer that I'm not able to get from my 24/7 tmux+irssi virtual private instance? Please don't say more notifications or addictiveness.

It's probably just relative. I would think the proportion on IRC is now more technical than ever before. Twenty years ago, you would need to know where to plug a cable in to even have a computer turn on. For better or worse, the barrie

The best private conversations start by branching away from a public space. It's that juxtaposition that makes each half all the more special (think noisy club/bar vs outside). I think the biggest failing of IM is that it's e

I think this is getting aside of the topic of what privacy really is for most people. IRC by default does not encourage endless selfies or oversharing that the modern social networks promote. I've never seen an ircd cloak instruction p

Having open ports directly to the internet (by default) with dial up modems (before routers and NAT) used to be such a common practice. Things have changed, haven't they?

As far as macOS goes, you can point the default screenshots location away from your iCloud drive. I did that fairly early on because uploading every random screenshot I take on a 1 Mbps upload connection is insanity.
