This is basically how you'd do it with non-negative matrix factorization. You take the spectrogram of a bunch of known notes for that type of guitar, and store them in a template library (just a vector of vectors, where each inner vect

The trouble with analysing "notes" in a composition (or even just with a polyphonic instrument) is the pesky harmonics. The timbre of different instruments produce harmonics that happen to be the fundamental frequencies of other n

That is very kind of you to offer. I don't know if I'd be able to find the time to dedicate to having this function as an actual product though!

I've worked on this problem for some time on a personal project, and I'm pretty convinced you can basically solve this problem without deep learning or AI techniques, and instead use non-negative matrix factorization[0] as a bank

To add to all of the beep boop I am a computer person here is a feature table responses, Winamp was just damn fun. The silly llama intro, the skins, that miniature UI with fun EQ. Sure, you _can_ use VLC, or Foobar, but those are just too

I did not cite reasons of portability for this reason, and generally I agree with you. Also some of the non-portable extensions of Postgres like PostGIS are practically indispensable for certain applications. A more reasonable argument for

I often move ID generation into the application layer (this also helps avoid things like enumeration attacks), and actually quite a lot of cool Postgres features blur that line a little bit. It's interesting to think sequences and othe

The key difference is that an opinion is something that can change. A kidnapping cannot be undone. In fact, you have highlighted exactly what I'm getting at. You can tidy a cluttered counter, and will do so if you think it beneficial f

I don't mean this personally, but I'd like to dive into this take. It is common these days for people to interpret the self-management people perform as a type of filtering (or "hiding" in your words). I find the cynicis

That depends. Is it too unnatural to go and plant millions of trees? What about culling populations of deer (as we do here in Scotland) to prevent the erosion of forestry (deer love to graze on saplings)? What about the introduction of new

In a sense, ecological engineering _is_ tech. But trees are the most perfect tool for the job of carbon capture. They don't even require much maintenance!

In theory, a sink large enough to bring the Earth back to carbon neutral would be possible if the Sahara were reforested[0]: > The team's calculations suggest the forested deserts could draw down around 8bn tonnes of carbon a year,

Almost everything humans do at scale interacts with the environment. The perspective of just not interacting with the environment anymore is a fantasy. We need to learn to wield the environment skillfully, instead of clumsily waving it arou
