Mirror your projects to BitBucket to reduce SPOF. That's what I'm doing with my private repositories.

If I recall correctly, the standards process itself requires multiple competing implementations for a single one to be chosen as a standard. Having multiple versions of a feature or API is therefore a "good thing" for getting new HTML5 feat

I'm using the irccloud iPhone app for this exact usage right now. The difference is that irccloud itself is a single point of failure that i can't fix if it goes offline.

As an entrepreneur, I often wish I had just invested the 4 years and gotten a degree. The piece of paper guarantees you a minimum of 60,000 dollars per year in America. It's a way for upper middle class kids to get their parents to pay for

The only real solution for high precision numbers in JavaScript are string-based "big num" classes, unfortunately. Sending important numbers (banking, gas prices, etc) as the built-in number type is just setting yourself up for pain.

I have experienced feelings similar to these in the past as a freelancer working from home. My advice is to join a local coworking group where freelancers come together to share office space. I have found the social atmosphere helps everyon

Then why do you link to it on your website? Look at "Signup to our Hosted Solution" a little closer. :( edit: Sorry, I missed the typo there, but it's still invalid for SIMVLA.com as well.

Stylus borrowed this feature from Sass. http://learnboost.github.com/stylus/docs/extend.html edit: You're right, @include's support for mixin bodies is not available :/ I am hoping Stylus adds this soon. It helps a lot for media queries.

Will do. I've heard people on Freenode IRC telling me that while Compass is a great library, Stylus is the superior language. I certainly was a fan of Sass over SCSS, and I like how Stylus reminds me of that.

This seems comparable to Fire.app ( http://fireapp.handlino.com/ , F/LOSS, my favorite) or CodeKit. I noticed that you are specifically pimping out Stylus rather than Sass/Compass, but it doesn't seem to be a problem to get Compass working

If you have $500/month to spend you could also get equivalent managed PHP hosting (that's all this is) from many other providers like RackSpace Cloud, etc. with spare money left over for an update service like ManageWP.

I would be interested to see the author's thoughts on Lua.js, translating Lua into semi-equivalent JavaScript: https://github.com/mherkender/lua.js Or is this more of an educational than practical workshop?

I've had issues with sshfs not sending the proper signals when files are deleted or renamed. It can make it quite frustrating when relying on tools that watch the filesystem for changes (like precompilers or editor tree views).

I think we are in complete agreement. Your example is a little prettier however you still have this "unoptimized" line: ;[1,2,3].forEach(function(x) { If this line is executed more than once, the nested function will be created again

Avoiding nested anonymous functions is good for more reasons than listed in the article. The article lists closures holding references to the closed-over variables as being a source of wasted memory. Another point is the fact that anonymous
