When I was 14 I got my first job at a local company. They let me "intern", with good pay. When I was 16-17 I did remote work for a company I found through stackoverflow careers. It did take a while to find one that would take me w

I don't know what it is, but the xiph.org blog posts always seem so well written and interesting to me. Probably that I perceive the subject matter as magic :)

I agree. Every time I go to use Google's spreadsheet app, I'm sorely disappointed and crawl back to Calc, which is acceptable.

My experience with excessively large PDFs is the same, albeit they are largely just text and tables with no complex vector graphics.

Still limited by lack of an LLVM backend for AVR, doesn't make it any easier or harder.

Another gfx-rs contributor here. It still has a long way to go, but we've made some solid progress, but some in-progress language changes will enable to next iteration of our API, with a lot of simplification to our public interface. I

Do you have specific benchmarks to back up this claim? I think it's completely unfounded. Every test we've done against C and C++, we're competitive. Exception is the performance of the IO/task runtime, which still nee

Rust's performance is competitive with clang and improving, even in the "safer" mode. We have benchmarks in many of the libraries (search for #[bench]) and some in src/test/bench. We're on the benchmarking game

Not really, since the equivalent formulations in Rust are also existentials, just slightly massaged syntax-wise.

Embedded and embeddable are different things. Embeddable refers to the ability to call code written in your library from any other environment (and these days, over a C FFI).

One of Rust's goals is being as fast or faster than C. Not ballpark, but actually competing. Personally I'm a big fan of Pascal, and I look to Ada sometimes for inspiration (it brought a lot to the table!), but it's quite cle

Nothing can link against MSVC++ generated libs, at least not the C++ ones. You can link to ones using `extern "C"`, though.

If you're creating a new ~T in a loop, it will be freed after each iteration of the loop (ie, when the block ends). Witness for yourself: https://gist.github.com/cmr/f80c0a58e5b90021bb35

As if coffeescript originated the features... We don't have iteration with index variable because it's seen as extraneous and unnecessary. If you aren't using iterators, you're paying for unnecessary bounds checks (LLVM
