An Eve server can run locally in its own instance, separate and isolated from anything else. It would be no different than Java requiring the JVM. But one of the nice things about Eve is that it effortlessly distributes to multiple nodes&#x

I wrote a little about this is a previous dev diary [1]. The short answer is we wanted to decouple our GUI from the programming platform. We had a syntax for the language at one point in 2014. But we also believed in dogfooding; if we are c

Eve is only as useful as the data in it, so we really want to make it easy to import data from a variety of sources. You bring up a really good point though, that if our interface is grid-based, then there should be a simple mapping from Ex

Yeah, there is no context to this post, so I appreciate your confusion. Eve is a programming platform we are designing to bring the power of programming to non-programmers. You can read a little more about our mission here: http:/

Hi everyone, Corey here from Eve. We've been in the trenches for a while, so I've been working to document a backlog of progress. A lot has changed even in the ~3 months since the work in this post occurred, so it's not refle

How exactly will you differentiate with Clearpath? When I think of a standard platform for outdoor robotics, I think of them. Or adept has a line of Pioneer outdoor robots. What is your competitive advantage over these already established

Hi Tom, I've done a lot of work with autonomous self driving robots. Specifically relating to your company is the research I've done on an autonomous wheelchair that can navigate a sidewalk between two locations. I know it's

We used a graph editor for our last release in August, but since then we have taken a different direction.

I wouldn't be surprised. I used Godaddy once to search for possible domain names. I found maybe 10 or so good ones, and then took some time to think about which one to choose. A couple days later I went to register the one I wanted, on

I would say basically all of robotics is transformations over matrices. As for Little Ben, there was actually no machine learning involved. Planning was sample-based on an occupancy grid. Localization was map-based.

I haven't paid attention to IMUs in a while. Here is one that I had some experience with in grad school: http://www.oxts.com/inertial-interface-to-navcoms-sf-3050/

In 2007 for the DARPA Urban Challenge, the Benn Franklin Racing Team used Matlab for their car. The entire thing ran on 5000 lines of code compared to similar performing cars written in C/C++ which used over 100K lines of code. http:&

On the "cheap" relatively. The sensor he uses on the top of the car alone costs $8000. If you want to do it right, you'd also need a really nice IMU system to... I'm not sure what he's using but they can get very pr

Version control, refactoring, code reuse, etc. are big items on the roadmap for the next release. We have some interesting ideas, including the realization that refactoring in this sort of system can take the form of graph rewrites. Here&#x

Thanks for taking a read. Chris stated in the blog post that this release is basically "a database with an IDE". Our vision for Eve is that people will use it as a tool for thinking and then communicating the results of that thoug

I respectfully disagree. People who are not programmers use abstract reasoning and modelling skills all the time in their daily lives. They more than have the skills to solve this problem: You have a list of friends and where they are, you
