One argument for one language everywhere is the benefits you get from an "isomorphic" app ( http://nerds.airbnb.com/isomorphic-javascript-future-web-app... ) Sharing code between client and server lets reduce duplic

This very likely uses network speech recognition, so most things (except for the wake-up word) are being streamed up and recognized in Amazon's data center (Siri, SVoice, etc all do this also)

I think part of the reason that most apps don't use these techniques is that there are not enough examples. The examples that are available on SO, the apple docs, and IB generated/influenced code work great for the simple case but

We use dropwizard only for rest APIs currently. Our HTML and JS are served up with an in-house framework that has plugins for less, minimization, svg inlining, etc. We have open tasks to both publish it and make it hostable in dropwizard

Nice article - Many of the suggestions (single-jar deployment, metrics, slf4j logging, etc) are all wrapped up for you in Dropwizard http://dropwizard.io , which we use and love.

We use the semi-official angular ui bootstrap library ( http://angular-ui.github.io/bootstrap/ ) Out of curiosity what does this give you over that?

Agreed - we used the PRUs for high speed data acquisition (~3.4msps.). What would have normally required a lot of outboard logic ended up being almost all software. Very much an underrated feature, although the Learning curve is not so grea

This would be amazing.. svgo and less are the only two things between us and a node-free environment - would love to not have to install/deal with npm.

Glad to see the EEVBlog here.. I have been learning a LOT from his videos. If you are at all interested in electronics I would highly recommend checking it out.

The counter-point is always valuable! I find Angular really helps when you have a fairly complex single-page app that has non-trivial interactions. The complexity tradeoff you make using it is not worth it when you don't have those ne

Many lives are incredible, sometimes small details, sometimes extreme events, but only a few make it a point to broadcast and paint that persona of themselves, real or not.

Selection, UI, and curation/recommendation all are very good. I hope this creates some competition for Spotify, because I think they need a fire lit under their product plans. (It's 2014 and I still can't save a collection

Agree, although as I understand it non-YC companies are relegated to the Who's Hiring thread, which is only once a month and pretty crowded (and Jan 2014 appears locked now?)

My day to day would be significantly harder, less fun, and more frustrating without IntelliJ. Big thanks to the team for making such an incredible product. No major updates for me in 13, but all the little things add up to a nice update.

So what is the right java web framework today? Play has gone down the scala route - is there really another rails-like web framework that today that would do what the author is asking?
