"Why? Is that just on principle? Or do you see this behavior by the government as rising to the level of the US taking down sites that flout or even break the law in a de minimis way?" I think it's a combination of several factors. One is d

If you read the article, you will discover that the author asserts that this situation is different, because it's the first time that a .com domain registered through a foreign registrar has been subject to seizure by US authorities. I don'

I can comfortably reach the upper right corner of my phone. Maybe I have larger hands than I think I do, or maybe I hold my phone differently than most people. But I still don't see how that blog post linked to in the parent comment is at a

Everytime I see this article mentioned, I cringe. I am a man with relatively small hands and I can reach the right edge and even the upper right corner of my Motorola Atrix 2 (almost as big as a Galaxy S II) easily. Have you actually tried

Except, as noted in the comments, there is actually no way to get a truly unlocked iPhone in the USA (one that will work with any US provider). Even Apple's "Unlocked" full price phone will only work on GSM networks (so AT&T or T-Mobile

The Sprint pricing is wrong, you're missing the required $10/month smartphone data add-on. That brings the prices to $80, $100, and $110 for each tier. Also, do you have more info on the $10/month discount on VZW for FIOS customers? I did s

The "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" comment was tongue-in-cheek and I apologize if it came off as insensitive. I have a ton of respect for the guy, and it's definitely a huge loss. But I'm just trying to say that maybe people are going a

Guilty as charged about contributing to the problem, but I went to the new queue with the express purpose of voting up every non-Steve Jobs related story I could find, and didn't find many. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. I still assert th

Yeah, exactly, I went out to page 4 of the "new" queue and was only able to find a few stories that weren't Steve Jobs related. I guess I'll just come back later.

Why? Just about everything in this article is factually and verifiably true, except maybe the part about the iPad being late to market. Steve was a great entrepreneur, but I don't think every obituary needs to deify him.

Yes, exactly, either you don't make apps for their platform anymore (in the case of iOS) or you distribute them through your website, just like before the app store existed. Or, you could make a webapp. Apple has been treating their develop

My honest opinion is that the only solution here is to pack up and leave Apple's closed ecosystem, because they clearly don't care about their developers. If you are continuing to do business with them you are sending them a message that it

Wow, this article is pretty misinformed. This is something that PC vendors have been doing for years , since Windows XP came out, at least. It can definitely be helpful and a nice thing to have, but an innovation? I don't think so.

I'm assuming you're using Twilio for this (if not, please correct me). How can you charge 2c a minute when it costs more than this from Twilio if the user is doing forwarding? Do you just hope that the monthly charge makes up for the defici

My advice is to stay far, far away from Moniker. I use them at work, and their UI stinks: for example, when changing my domains' authoritative nameservers it will occasionally switch the nameservers back to the default (Moniker's own) witho

Looks interesting, nice work. A couple of companies that all work out of our office are actively hiring engineers, so I'll talk to them and see if they'd be interested in using it.

What? My commute is approximately 18 miles each way, almost all of which is highway with a 65mph speed limit. Is the Leaf not going to be able to get me to work and back on a single charge? If not, the 100 mile range they're claiming is pre

This is simply not true. One specific example is SSDs -- they offer a huge increase in performance, yet Apple only offers mediocre, overpriced ones as options on its higher-end machines.

This is a nice little utility. It'd be good if it supported more google services (reader, gmail?) but hopefully they'll add to it as time goes on.
