I'd rather have a Bayesian filter than a downmod. Heck, it might even pick up on self-referential forum language.

Even more practical.. avoid GPL code like the plague, unless you're sure you'll never have to distribute it.

I think if you're going to swear, you should do it in British. The King's English offers a greater spectrum of colorful expressions.

Despite the benign assurances of the site, having to type my email address in bug.gd is annoying. I disagree with "forcing community participation" like this... how do I even know there would even be enough content on your site to make it

I'm a long-time del.icio.us user and I feel burned. Performance looks good, but I absolutely hate the new layout, its distracting and completely defeats the original simplistic appeal of the site. It kind of looks like Digg painted blue..

This is great news... At first glance, the Cassandra codebase looks smaller and simpler than HBase. It will be interesting to see how it compares -- I've had data integrity with HBase, but I'm also doing weird stuff to it (storing tons of

Not too far off the mark. Once you get your head on straight, you can exploit any salaried job of at least some intrinsic worth as your own tool for business experimentation and even peripheral market research/experience.

I think karma is a one-dimensional useless metric, and the only reason it seems to have some value is due to the initial homogeneity of a social news site's user community. I didn't know hacker news added silly features based on karma. How

"marketing + some pretty interface" Best description yet of "Web 2.0"! I feel much the same way, which is why I've been learning Eclipse RCP this year. Not everything has to be a killer website (although RCP apps can be made into web apps
