I think this is a pretty optimistic take. I know there's a constant barrage of articles these days about the demise of China, but it's pretty hard to make the case that such a drastic decline in population is a good thing for thei

I really don't think Dave Ramsey is a good source of information for very many people. The debt snowball method is the best example of this. There's no reason anyone should be employing that strategy unless they just need the ment

I think you're overstating the variance. If you watch high level poker play you will consistently see the same players at the final table of big tournaments. Sure, a few lucky random players will go pretty deep in the tournament, but t

I think this is getting at a pretty good point. Half of all numbers (all evens) will scale by .5 to the subsequent number. The other half (odds) will effectively scale by approximately 3/2, as you have shown here. Obviously over a larg

I don't think the suggestion is that a country "needs" to take away freedoms as it grows larger or more diverse. It's just that a larger and more diverse country is simply more likely to have to grapple with tensions bet

These lists seem to show that the US is pretty much on par with the rest of the western world. I'm not sure how you could look at these and say that the US is behind it's peers very much, especially on the economic freedom measure

Comments like these always make me roll my eyes. There's no grand conspiracy to shut down the world in order to help the rich get richer. Sure, that may be an unintended effect, but to suggest that was the goal all along is ridiculous.

"Rotating the line to be orthogonal to race" is a bit of a confusing statement, but I don't think it's fair to say that it implies not acknowledging race. What it does imply is enacting policies that are not solely based

This feels like a straw man argument. It is pretty widely recognized that innovation in the US is ahead of the vast majority of the rest of the world, even Europe. Only China is now challenging the US in that regard. I think that the late a

After researching a little more I've found I was incorrect. There are always more long shares than short shares. However, the "long" shares are not necessarily real shares in the company. They could be ones that have been len

I believe that this is correct. The parent comment sounds very sure of themselves but I don't think the statement "there will always be more shares held long than short" is necessarily true.

I would hesitate to say that there is "cultural" pressure to evict a tenant. Landlords aren't evicting people because their friends tell them to. They evict people because they think they will have better luck trying to find
