Talking about music Shazam fails to identify, I have a bee in my bonnet about a piece of violin that I found in several trailers [1] [2]. Sounds like Ray Davies but can't find the tune anywhere. [1] https://youtu.be/md9

This is a disingenuous headline. From the context she clearly meant "locking in" as in a customer buying a subscription, not vendor lockin as in you can only use our ink (not saying it isn't happening, just that this was not

I don’t know. When youtube bypassed adblockers on iOS, I found it quite natural to break that habit and stop using youtube. I stopped watching TV 20 years ago, I have been using ad blockers as soon as they were introduced. The habit of not

I am not aware that customs controls are made in the passport area, at least not between London and Paris. It is done at the exit of the terminal, in a non blocking way like in UK airports (and always was, they were already looking for ille

I didn't notice a change in baggage inspections. The inspection occurs when you leave the terminal in London, but that's not blocking, like in airports, you just walk through unless you are one of the few unlucky ones. In 15 years

I think a lot of houses are made of bricks, not necessarily reinforced concrete. Appartement blocks on the other hand is all reinforced concrete I believe.

I was a bit shocked when I learned that reinforced concrete only has a lifespan of about 100 years. That means that if you buy a condo in a building built in the 1970s, the building will become unsafe and need to be demolished in your life

Do you store stuff on multiple disks? I struggle with windows as a NAS. Windows storage space sucks hard (particularly their RAID5 style parity which has unacceptable performances, but also I had it failing without reporting it, and it does

Even from a pure legalistic point of view, US laws have extraordinary extra territorial reach. I believe if a bribe occurs between two foreigners in a foreign country, the mere fact that they used USD for payment brings it within US jurisdi

But it's also too often broken, fragile, and the worst sin of all, break default behaviours of browsers. It is the price we pay for html having been stale for 15 years between the late 90s and 2012-ish.

To me the real thing missing is whether those drive advertise power loss protection or not. The next question is whether they are to be used in a laptop where power loss protection is less relevant given the local battery.
