I really wish jRPG developers would just give up on expensive 3D graphics and go the way of Ni no Kuni and Saga Frontier 2. Suits the genre perfectly.

Cool that your daughter is willing to play retro games (I assume), I tried to get my teenage nephews to play FF7 and as soon as they saw the blocky graphics they noped the f out. Sigh.

Good to know I'm not the only one who can't figure out UIs these days. Mobile apps have all these icons that give me absolutely no idea what action will be performed. I miss the days of being able to hover and get an English descr

If you finished a CS degree with a 3.6, you definitely have the aptitude. What makes you so sure you had to work harder than your classmates to get similar results? They could have been burning the midnight oil a lot more than you think.

Just a note that if you go into automotive, you will spend 90% of your time in Matlab/Simulink. Pretty fun IMO.

Although I don't necessarily agree with Stallman on a lot of things (I'm typing this on Windows 10) I have mad respect for the guy. The world needs advocates like him to counter the bad actors in the corporate world.

Creoles are fascinating. If we can assume that modern language came about with modern humans some 50,000 years ago, I wonder how many modern languages are creoles of extinct languages?

I completely feel you on b. I always have a set of various folders opened and even with shortcuts it's a pain in the ass to reopen them all (because what's open depends on what I'm doing).

Renren had already lost to QQ Space before Wechat existed. Which I find hilarious, the Myspace clone where you can annoy viewers with auto-playing music and atrocious Javascript beat out the Facebook clone.

It baffles me how a company as large as Nvidia could get death hugged by HN. I guess people are just that excited for Titan X.

I'm not surprised. Using livestream apps (or in Vine's case short videos) I've noticed that broadcasters are incredibly addicted for a month or so, and then they disappear forever.

Mayan is strictly CVC and CV? I always assumed that Chinese remained logographic because of the phonology's quick shift to CVC within a thousand years or so of the script's invention. Reading a lot of Baxter and Sagart's pape

Just keep doing what you're doing. Sounds like you're pretty motivated, so learning a few Romance languages simultaneously will be a much better use of your time. Highly recommend reading Wikipedia articles to give perspective abo

I bet Reddit will finally be blocked in China because of this. Imgur has been blocked for years but Reddit's never been blocked.

My exposure to the Erlang world is limited to having read the first few chapters of Programming Elixir. Is interop trivial? Can you easily use Erlang, Elixir, and LFE in the same project?
