I taught Gore Vidal how to use a PowerBook in 1995 while he was in California to film his A&E biography. The ticket said "George Vidal" and he said he was a writer. I asked what he had written and he replied, "Check your

Most of my Sierra pain comes from plugging/unplugging my 27" Cinema Display on a 2013 MBP. Have to reboot to get them to sync again. In frustration I told my wife, "It's like XP all over again." (Not really but it&#

I had a similar experience with Vue about six months ago. I read the documentation and then gave myself an hour with it. By the end of the same day, I had re-factored a very complex dashboard and enjoyed every minute of it. My biggest compl

My Honda died at 300,000 miles in February. I used the occasion to explore buying a pickup truck and discovered that gas prices had fallen and Toyota Tacomas were selling at a record pace above MSRP. The Dodge Ecodiesel was $40k. The Prius&

I definitely agree that React is clean for the reasons you state and I always enjoy building UIs with it. I suppose my comment was just a reflection on the differences that I found refreshing - to my surprise.

Vue templates support conditional rendering (v-if/v-show/v-else) which I didn't realize I missed until using them. Also, conventions around component data are really nice and help keep markup tidy and very readable. I like to

I was in the same boat not too long ago. I was 38 with 15 years at a school district job as a systems analyst and programmer. I wasn't laid off or let go but I couldn't do it any more. I couldn't do one more Exchange or VMWar

The article is about momentum not necessarily newness or hipness. Node.js is only three years younger than Rails.

I think this is the best combination of libraries I've ever used, but given how impressive React truly is, I'm sure I'll see the Flux light soon enough too.

I could not agree with you more re: removing them at once. Sadly, I don't think an overly militarized police force, rapid transfer of wealth to the top and the post-911 power grab is going to challenged anytime soon. Most Americans sti

Offering, and charging money for, a monitoring tool (New Relic) that doesn't monitor a very important part of the Heroku request cycle is pretty blatant. It was probably pretty profitable too! EDIT: comma placement.

I've had Type 1 diabetes for about 20 years now; it's a little bit of pain in the ass, but I don't get why people bellyache about it so much. Blood sugar meters? Check. Fast-acting insulin? Check. Insulin pumps? Check. Blindness, amputation
