If NPR is so concerned about being called stated-affiliated, and if their government funding is really <1% of their revenue, then they should just say "no thank you" to anymore government money.

Seems like a great move for consumers, but I'm worried about how it will be automated and gamed.

Might not be able to tell if an AI wrote something general on the internet, but i can tell if joe down the hall wrote a subject matter specific email.

Duh? Corporate models are closed. Don’t make them part of your research infrastructure if you can’t cope with that.

I think this visualization would be a lot more informative if it was ... just a list of all the five letter words. lol. I swear, data scientists just visualize things because they can, and don't think about what information they want p

Pro tip: if you are concerned that you are spending too much time reading the internet, just uninstall ublock. You'll be so disgusted by the current state of affairs that you'll want to spend as little time online as possible.

I think the author lacks a lot maturity in collaboration. If you are collaborating, you have to put your preferences aside and use the tool that works for the majority. If that tool is MS Word, you just swallow your nerd pride, and use Word

Author doesn’t seem to understand that you can be in favor of tech entrepreneurism and opposed to an increase in banker moral hazard.

What I like about Meow is that it replaces a lot of stuff for me -- Evil, evil-collection, general, expand-region, and maybe something else. And it does not seem to be as invasive. But the killer feature is meow's macro system

I used Evil for 5-6 years. Meow is another great modal system for Emacs.

My family has curtailed eating out to just once or twice and month. Partly because we don't like to tip. On the other hand, I don't see any issue with businesses asking for more money, which can easily be declined.

writing in org just to export to markdown sounds very silly. what's the point? Emacs has markdown-mode.

Just write it in Word in the first place. Seems like org just adds a step to your process, and the benefit is nebulous. Further, regenerating in org destroys reviewer comments, which you should preserve until you are done iterating.

Writing in Org mode is a guaranteed way to ensure you won't collaborate with anyone on your work.

You can also use Elfeed to read hnrss in Emacs. Probably the more popular option.
