My GSOC project for this year is an extension to for comprehensions to enable LINQ-like conciseness without LINQ's inflexibility. If it ends up being merged into the compiler proper (a pretty big if), it should really help to make writ

Wikipedia tells me that Windows NT was started in 1988 and shipped in 1993, while Linux's first release was in 1991, giving them approximately the same age. Furthermore, NT shipped with UCS-2 support, not UTF-16, as UTF-16 did not exist unt

I can't answer your original question, but I can say that there does exist the word "cola" in English. This is the "correct" word for the sort of drink that both Coca Cola and Pepsi are.

At risk of sounding blunt, I do want to ask: have you tried several fixed-width fonts, or have you just used whichever is default on your system? In my experience, there seems to be no issue seeing where there is a space (not even for a spl

This isn't really fair: some implementations really do rule out certain optimizations. Turing-Completeness only refers to what is computable, not what actual algorithms and optimization techniques are possible.

I think there may be a misconception here: A tail call is NOT a call that doesn't allocate a stack frame. A tail call is a call that is the return value of a function. This is why we refer it the stack frame-eliminating optimization as "tai

In general speech, I can get behind the idea that you shouldn't correct someone if you understand what they mean. In programming, however, I think it's important to be pedantic. You must mean tail call optimization/elimination here. Clearly

You are correct. In practice, case-sensitive filesystems on OS X are impractical, but boy does this destroy my faith in developers... how hard is it make sure that you use the same cases in your paths throughout your program?
