Wow, this was very cool! I'll probably be looking all over the mall, my campus, etc for the rest of the summer until classes start again and I'm swamped by the algorithms and data structures class. Anyone have any more design or like links/

Thanks for the slashdot convo. Now we don't have to have an conversation here! But no it won't kill my career because I program Java and if he wants to learn new things or in different ways he'll need us.

I think it should always be that. If you're easily addicted to watching small numbers go up perhaps you should spend your time jumping into a videogame (such as an MMO since you seem near inclined)but this is supposed to be a website for ne

This article mostly related to the hardware aspect and primarily from the business (or well-to-do, informed manager) perspective. I was hoping it would concentrate on the lack of programming skills and possible solutions but it primarily se

Thank you. HN seems to be subject to tons of vague or mildly misleading titles and I'm getting pretty sick of it. I wouldn't be bothered as much, but in some places if you get into too many technical details it seems to confound people and

That is an admission, otherwise this act would be futile. "We think someone stole animals from our pet shop, so we compared the empty cages to filled ones to figure out..."

Sometimes I wonder what it's like to pretend that you aren't affected by the mannerisms and maturity of all living human beings. To believe that there's a good rationalization to finding a short cutoff of helping people. This article's true

I'll read it but know this, and I'm willing to sign a document to the effect publicly, regardless of it's damage to my reputation. If a virus was spreading and I could counter it (especially without writing my own virus just for that) then

You don't spoof the messages, you spoof the destinations. In a closed system if you can get ahold of the destination as they have, you can redirect everything else to that center temporarily and just let it keep spamming suicide modules. I

Have we forgotten the difference between articles and source/reference material? I see far too many blog posts and junk articles posted as sources or evidence in this day and age. No references to studies, or exposed facts that were collect

I love Java but it did introduce us (which may have occurred naturally over time) to new subsets of problems, which may in the future as well be referred to as traits.

This kind of thought process that you've pointed out above is probably the biggest cancer of the industry to be honest. What happened to apprenticeship? Better your hiring practice or stop hiring cheap. Also I'd wager with such an absurdly

That article gave me cancer. It seems like it wants to be different than other businesses but is not. As soon as you say "And other reasons not listed here" you just made your list useless. Having a huge book of rules makes it feel like an
