This was my experience. I ended up using Docsify for my web component library ( https://shoelace.style ) as it renders markdown on the fly and works well with custom elements. The idea behind Storybook is great, but it’s gotten sl

I’d much rather work four days at nine hours than five days at eight.

Another case is to delimit alpha in color functions: rgb(255 0 0 / 50%) is valid for full red at 50% opacity.

Same. I’ve found the key to not cutting myself is to make sure the blade is reasonably sharp (never more than 2-3 shaves with the same one) and apply very little pressure. It’s a bit more of an art than my ol’ Mach 3, but I’ve grown to real

This is the impression I got. The first half of the vanilla example is imperatively creating DOM elements, assigning attributes, and inserting them into an “app” <div>. My guess is the author learned React first and never considered t

> GitHub Copilot is a tool that helps you write better, faster, and most importantly, more code. I’ll agree with faster and more code, but from the many examples I’ve seen, it’s not better.

IE pushed the web forward initially. It was only after it won that it stagnated. As a developer, this is my biggest fear for Chromium.

This is cool. I whipped up a quick clone on CodePen using Shoelace web components for fun: https://codepen.io/claviska/pen/NWjbdoK

You can, and some JS consoles provide this for convenience if those vars are unused, but jQuery really shines with method chaining. That’s what I miss the most from it. You could manipulate the DOM in incredible ways in “one line” of code.

I used to work in an old building with six floors. The bathrooms were all in the common area hallways, only two stalls per floor. It was a challenge to find an empty one between 8-10am, running up and down the stairs frantically trying door

A two to four year support life for hardware seems ridiculously low. This reflects very poorly on WD, even if the exploit wasn’t discovered until the hardware was six to eight years old.

Update: I pushed hard enough and FINALLY got confirmation that they are only collecting the laptop and I’m free to donate/discard the rest. Thanks for your suggestions! Glad to have this behind me now.

They haven’t given me an address. The laptop is going to a third-party processor with a return auth. I’ve been told there’s nobody in the company’s office to accept shipments due to COVID so they’d likely be returned to me.

I’d like to donate it but I don’t want to pay for it should they choose to attempt recovery at some random date in the future.

I could, but I’d rather donate them to a local school or library. I just don’t want to be billed full price for it eventually.

I have not been given an address. The laptop box has a preprinted sticker but it’s being sent to a third-party for processing, not the company. Without a return auth, they’d likely refuse the shipment.

How long has it been? Did the company eventually reach out to claim it?

I doubt they care about the keyboard and mouse and all that, but surely they’d want two fairly pricey monitors back.

The cost of both monitors is over $700, and I’d estimate another $200-300 in peripherals that are new and unopened (I used my existing personal periphs). That’s market price. Their price may be higher, so I want to turn them in properly o

IE6 almost made me quit web development once it grew stagnant. It was put on the back burner at some point and they rested on their laurels until Firefox started eating IE’s market share.
