I think this video points out Epicurus' opinions on advertisement https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4L3dLWwmDDw . I don't have time to re-watch the video, but I remember the gist being that the _point_ of advertiseme

I do this right now on Facebook; you can unfollow anyone. I'm not following anyone and I have no feed. But the problem is people aren't going to voluntarily do this, and it's a big pain to unfollow hundreds of people. This ne

That's why this has remained an idea for me rather than anything I would consider attempting. Social networks have an enormous bar to entry. This is why I think this would most feasibly be applied as a restriction to Facebook/Inst

#2. I've had an idea I've mulled around for a couple of years now about a new social network. One which limits your 'feed' to 25 friends and that is it. 25 might even be too high (or potentially too low; the number is ar

Does this argument prove anything? An enormous industry that wants to disprove man-made climate change science doesn't prove climate science is iron-tight. There are also many vested interests, at this point, in proving popular climate

I used to do this as a kid. In my family everyone was watching a television at almost all times when we were home. Naturally it was there when we would go to bed. I recognized this was a terrible pattern. I began shutting off the tv when I

Maybe I just don't remember enough about Windows 8, but how is Windows 10 that much worse, in your opinion? I feel like it's the exact same as 8 sans the Metro Start section and a few minor (in my opinion) UI tweaks.

This is actually addressed in a rather identical manner in _The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People_ by Stephen Covey. He talks about giving his son a task, outlining success and failure outcomes, and providing constraints and boundarie

I would recommend reading _Born to Run_ by Christopher McDougall. Later in the book he addresses this very topic and expands much more upon the topic of humans and long-distance running. Humans sweat, which most (all?) other animals don

Or to keep more smudges off your phone and to not get as many germs on it throughout the day. These are minor, but not negligible. My phone gets very smudged up throughout the day.

I've had a Google conferencing app fail before on FF when it worked fine on Chrome. That's about my only experience though. I've been on FF on my laptops for over a year now and they've been fine otherwise. Mobile, on th

I feel the exact same way. I come home and exercise and make food and I feel just beat. All I want to do is sleep by 9pm. I wish I had a few extra hours a day to study or spend time on leisure activities. As it is I study or read until it&#

What tools could Oracle feasibly replace? I'm aware of their broader product line, but I mostly use IntelliJ. I can't see Oracle replacing IntelliJ anytime soon.

I just tried to do a 48-hour fast and only made it to 24 before I had to eat. I felt dizzy, irritable and couldn't concentrate on anything other than my hunger. How do people make it past this?

I'm going to have to agree. Out of all the technologies my team had to juggle while I was on a web team, CSS and its various components (CSS precompilers, sass/scss/less, frameworks, etc) were the hardest to keep neat. You do

I'm pretty sure most Netgear routers have OpenDNS interactions that you can use to block domains. At least my Nighthawk did. Otherwise I think you can pay for an OpenDNS account.

I've told this to a lot of people around me... unfollow everyone on Facebook. This does two things: 1. No more facebook feed 2. No more facebook ads You still get to keep messenger as an extended contact book, people can still tag you
