Go to the gym. Regularly. You'll feel better from the exercise, and start meeting other regulars. This can be a regular gym, climbing gym, whatever. It'll help.

The trick with speeding up rubocop (and most other linters, for that matter) is to run it as a daemon. There's a rubocop daemon gem available. Or with solargraph, rubocop is kept in memory so you only pay the startup cost once. With th

It's because your computer can't tell the difference. c-[ and ESC send the same key-code. Same with c-i and tab. What you can do to get around this is to remap one of them to something like f20 using Karabiner, then map f20 to wha

I think this is a fundamental attribution error... You're saying the person _is_ a thief, whereas I would say the person is _committing_ thievery. In the first case, it's the persons nature and no change in incentives would dissua

It strikes me as odd that in one breath he says "Learning was part of the job" and spends nearly the rest of the piece complaining about writing tests. Maybe he could learn how to do it better :)

I absolutely love this idea. I find that nudges or 'speedbumps' offer just enough of a barrier to get me to reconsider my own actions, sort of snapping me out of a trance. I would welcome these kind of changes.

That's correct, American citizens are required to pay tax to the IRS regardless of their residency. However, you can deduct something like $106,000 from your yearly income if it's already been taxed, to avoid double-taxation of in

Counterpoint: preferences are subjective. How about an article about how github uses the wrong colors in their syntax highlighting? According to color theory, a method is blue, not purple.

I'm on my phone, so it's a bit difficult to look up, but 350 isn't actually arbitrary. It's a temperature that is hot enough to allow you to get a maliard reaction without being so hot that you easily burn food.
