> Raising a child and building a home and life for a family is expensive. This is an important point. I don't think feminism is trying to limit options but in practical terms if you have a mix of two income and one income households

My observation from the UK is that it's extremely polarised. When I visited Miami for work I couldn't believe how many scantily clad people just walked around and the stories you see in media from coastal liberal areas (fictional

Can someone explain the logic behind District Attorney's being elected? I'm not from the US so don't understand the reasoning. Why are certain crimes prosecuted based on decisions of an elected official? That just seems obvio

The market is only as free as society decides. Regardless of current legality if society decides something is immortal eventually it'll be regulated.

My understanding is that many USB-C adapters limit voltage, which screws over good headphones. Also from experience of using a DAC via USB-C everyday for many years, they're really really unreliable. 3.5mm on the other hand just works

How is the software though? I tried it years ago because of the audio quality and ended up going HTC 10 because the LG version of Android was horrendous. Less bloat than Samsung sure but still horrible

I loved my OnePlus One. But then when I went to replace it years later they'd scraped the headphone jack.

Are pubic holidays guaranteed on top of that? The UK allowance includes pubic holidays but very few employers make you take them.

Yes, though some companies (finance normally) give 5+ weeks on top of bank holidays and very very few employers make you take bank holidays.

I'd be curious to know how much time off they give their staff normally? I hear that 2 weeks is standard in the US and if so no wonder everyone's burned out. In the UK we get 6 weeks minimum and I honestly can't imagine going

Really? I've went to London office a couple of times and have had many colleagues there and they didn't seem notable different to Scots in terms of swearing.

I agree with all of that except the swearing part. Is swearing in work a big deal in US? I'm Scottish (even worse Glaswegian) so perhaps have a skewed view.

Out of curiosity how did you qualify for the vaccine? I work for the NHS but as I'm not frontline don't qualify for it. Not that I disagree with the decision but the internal talk I've heard is that the government has been ex

You're comparing a terrible commuting scenario to a great remote scenario. You're also looking at this from the perspective of someone with an established family. Of course remote looks better! There are more commuting scenarios t

"Regulation" gave us the end of Slavery. "Regulation" gave us the end of child labour. "Regulation" gave us a 5 day work week. "Regulation" gave us a reasonable number of holidays (in Europe atleast).

Is a 4 day week possible? Many Western European countries have laws that legally entitle you to ask for 4 days weeks (even if they say no they can't penalise you for it) and most tech companies are open to it. Go down to 4 days and you

I'm referring the rollout of the vaccines not the creation. That's a different issue with no easy answer. Again this may just be a cultural difference. Healthcare being free at point of use is a core tenant of the NHS.

Maybe this is cultural difference between the UK and the US but who the hell thinks it's ok to be blatantly profiting from a vaccine rollout? Particularly when the vaccine is being provided for free by government. Covering costs is ove

Screenhero. Best remote pairing tool I ever used. Then Slack bought and killed it. I'm not sure why, it was an incredible product and would have made a killing in the pandemic.

Out of curiosity what made you realise you had ADHD? I've previously suspected I have inattentive type ADHD but was never sure if it was just an excuse I told myself or not. Due to that I've never pursued a diagnosis.
