Does Ferrari have the same "relationship requirements" as other high-end manufacturers? I.e. to get the latest and greatest ICE sports case, you'll need to buy one of these first.

How much of that comes right back to the government, in the form of tax income?

Are these the kind you could DIY-install on a balcony for example?

Smoking on airplanes is the one that just seemed like an accident waiting to happen. And yet there were (relatively) few incidents caused by cigarettes.

IMO purely people management (1:1s, promotions, goal-setting, staffing/resourcing, involvement in hiring).

Interesting. I'd define all of those tasks as the job of a team/tech lead, rather than a manager. I've worked at places where the same person did both roles, and it was not always a great mix.

I wonder if that will remain the case. The input costs for farming are increasing (seed, fertiliser, energy), the output is becoming less predictable (flood, drought) and the grants from DEFRA which are meant to smooth things out have dried

I think that's what Small Modular Reactors (SMR) are hoping to improve? At least the time to build.

Yes, I believe some EVs allow this too.

What if a happy byproduct of pushing for net zero is more investment in renewables, and decoupling the electricity price from gas?

Yep, if you see someone on a scooter with a clipboard attached to the handlebars it's quite likely to be someone studying for The Knowledge.

The UK previously didn't allow small plug in solar panels (the kind that you just plug in to a mains socket) due to, I believe, safety reasons. This has changed within the last few days https://energysavingtrust.org.uk/

That seems mad, given the volume of traffic they're working - even without emergencies. My local GA field is single controller, and that's VFR, grass runways, averages 40-50 movements/day.

I don't think this explains understaffing though. "The lawsuit doesn’t allege incompetent controllers were hired instead of CTI graduates. Instead, it states that the CTI graduates weren’t given the opportunity to demonstrate thei

In the US, airplanes can be cleared for landing while the runway is occupied (you can be number two, three, etc. for landing and still be cleared). It's different in other countries, where you can only be issued a landing clearance if

Yep, I've worked at two startups which started to really emphasise The Numbers in weekly all-hands meetings, and how we're all in it together to improve them, etc. Both of those jobs ended in redundancy.

I used a Tesla charger (as a non-Tesla driver) recently. I think their pricing model is pretty good: pay per kWh (varies between peak and off-peak), and if the station is busy they can impose a "congestion charge" for anyone occup

I guess a train line has a similar risk of security concerns/disruption, vs. trucks which can be re-routed.

The term "Children of the Magenta Line" has long been used in aviation to describe the over-reliance on automation. So even though they train to avoid losing manual skills, it's definitely still a concern.

> New wind power records are set regularly, and between 5:30pm and 6:00pm on 5th December 2025 British wind farms averaged a record 23.94GW of generation. Cool!
