Well of course it would have to go beyond Firefox to be effective. But if PPA can show that advertising can function without surveillance, then the business case for surveillance-based advertising goes away. This would make it easier for go

I consider Mozilla to be a public interest group. It's understandable that Meta's involvement is seen as a red flag, but if you want it to actually happen, part of this process will involve cooperating with advertisers. In the end

It's unfortunate that almost none of the PPA criticisms actually go into depth on why its implementation isn't sufficiently private. It seems there's no desire to actually improve privacy, they'd rather just kill the fea

I think it would be a good idea to remove these examples from the draft as it gives people the impression that this method is SQL-over-HTTP. A more typical body might be a JSON object with various filter criteria.

Tailwind is a CSS build process. If you only want to customize the default link color it probably isn't the right choice. If you want to avoid a build step, it's also not the right choice.

Is this a principled defense of free speech or a case of a man treating ostensibly independent companies as divisions of his personal conglomerate?

It's not too different in the corporate world. I'm an owner of Apple, Google, Microsoft and others and they refuse to divulge their secrets to me. I can't see their contracts, strategy documents or root passwords.

I really don't like advertising. I use uBlock Origin in my browser, AdGuard on my phone and pi-hole in my home. I even take a seam ripper to my clothes to make sure no logos remain. But I understand that advertising is the only viable

Were there any reports beyond the Seymour Hersh substack post? Besides some Russian outlets nobody took that seriously. While Hersh has had some impressive scoops he also has a history of fabrication and unreliable sources. There's a r

Stylo (CSS Engine) and WebRender (compositor) came from Servo and are still used in Firefox. I believe the Mozilla team still upstreams patches as well.

I still haven't seen any arguments why these restrictions aren't good for users. Just a bunch of assumptions that these restrictions are a fig leaf. For a technical forum, I would expect more discussion around the actual details.

All of these requirements look good for user security and privacy. I don't want apps to bring their own Blink or WebKit fork with all sandboxing and cross-site tracking protection disabled. I'm fine with apps bringing their own en

Instead of Chesterton, I think Thomas Aquinas made the same point more simply: "If the highest aim of a captain were to preserve his ship, he would keep it in port forever."
