Strongly agree. When the rules are bad, don't conform to them. I always use Quote-punc in my own writing if there is any possibility of ambiguity.

Looks pretty cool. The friction of scheduling and joining remote calls is underrated. I wonder what size teams this product works best for? Presumably seeing 45 faces on the sidebar would get a bit much...

Yup, exactly this. I had a few emails recently asking if my site had an RSS feed. I have never used RSS and had no idea. Went into Squarespace settings, messed around for 2 mins, it gave me a button and set it all up for me. Honestly I thou

Good article and a nice read :) You can apply the same analysis to the study of how "entire societies / nations generate Wealth" and get an interesting picture of the international econo-political metagame throughout history.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'm not focused enough right now to put a book together -- although I agree that there is more to be said on and around this specific topic. Some good nuggets are in this comment section -- as is

"...the endowment eventually grows to fund 100% of tuition. At that point, the question "why do they need more?" becomes obvious and unanswerable." This is a very good articulation of my points, thanks for laying it out

Good points, and thanks for reading! You're definitely right that "educating undergrads" is not the "primary purpose" of these institutions. I definitely did not & do not believe that. If that came through in th

This is absolutely spot on, and I just wanted to comment to say thank you for articulating my point more succinctly than I did. The comparison to artificially-constrained SF housing is very apt (as a current SF resident, I know it well).

For sure, you’re totally right that non-profits don’t generally need to give away their money. I tried to touch on this idea in the “Case for Charity: A Charity Case” section, but my approach is to view it idealistically / as things sh

Author here. Another long read -- apologies! The TL;DR of this essay might perhaps be: - College degrees are more valuable than ever in post-industrial economies, so applicants to top-tier schools are up 240% over the last 25 years - Meanwh

(Hey, OP here, thanks for reading I really appreciate it!) Look, on the one hand this can get a bit too cynical, to the extent that you start looking for a "grim cabal" (quoting myself, not you) to blame. There are no lizard peopl

Hey, OP here. Thanks for reading. For sure, this was a bit intentionally glib. My own understanding of macroeconomics is relatively light, so I linked to two different perspectives on this event and glossed by it a bit. The point I was tryi

Hi, OP of the actual article here! Thanks for summarizing this here. This is spot on. And of course I'm being a bit hyperbolic -- like I said, the median American still gets to build wealth. Just not as much as their parents. Or their

Hey, OP of the article here, didn't realize someone submitted it here too! Yeah, this is exactly a rephrasing of the point I was trying to get across.

If you're drop shipping from US-based retailers, how are you able to make margins on Amazon & eBay? Aren't those retailers also listing on Amazon - with better branding than you - and getting all the sales? (Just spent a few h

To be bold and attempt to summarize the difference in one sentence: Liberals hold equality as their guiding principle, conservatives, liberty. I'm sure that will irk both sides to some degree. But regardless of the stated motives, I&#x

On Sam's part -- am I the only one who got the "heard this before" feeling? Obviously he attributed everything pretty appropriately, but I thought I could've placed 50-75% of his sentences in the "Summary" sect

This is a ridiculously hard issue to discuss, especially with anyone who identifies with a group they feel has been victimized. Which can stretch to almost anyone these days. The only thing I wanted to add here is that the article & sub
