I was speaking to someone at the weekend about this. She said "but why would I need this"? I suspect most people aren't putting AI into any purchasing decisions. Most people really actually don't give a shit about it. Th

If the following does not happen in 2 years I will eat my hat: They will have performance problems. They will have compatibility problems. They will have poor repairability and zero repair network and support. The software will be abandoned

Yeah I tried copilot and it actually tried to gaslight me into changing the subject. If I want that I would speak to humans. Incidentally I am 100% macOS now. Not because it’s good but because it’s least shit.

That’s exactly it. Nothing really improves my life in this fad. The promises are not matching with reality and the sacrifices made everywhere else (quality, reliability, security) is where we are paying.

Ah user testimony on a very complex distributed synchronisation system. This is going to be a fun one. I suspect this is a mix of something technical and something human and the two may or may not overlap or be two separate issues, one givi

Oh Dell, Windows and Qualcomm. I’d rather cut my hands off and shove the bloody stumps in a bag of salt. Have had nothing but trouble with all of them over the years.

It’s not necessarily the SD that’s unreliable but the interface. I’ve had data corruption on SDs. Never with CFexpress for example.

My mother has a 9 year old iPhone. All the apps she use still work on it. And it's still getting security patches!

They're going to end up in extremely shit high end devices which will be canned after 6 months of poor sales and bad reviews.

As a very very regular iPad user, and this may be against Apple's intentions, if you're using the on screen keyboard for that stuff you're doing it wrong and are a masochist. I use the Mac for any text editing job because you

Yeah exactly that. I had a crunchy roll subscription but shitcanned it in the end because the quality of the releases is an order of magnitude better from the pirates.

I've actually written most of my code like this for the last 25 years or so. Assert and panic. Surprisingly it usually ends up with stuff that never crashes in production because it spent several days blowing up in my face before it go

I did the same thing with the MBA but ended up on an M1 Pro. I haven't used anything newer yet but will probably upgrade next year to an M4 Pro (?)
