The was the best explainer I've seen for what a lot of skeptics have pointed out: the science here is extremely dubious and by far the most likely explanation is experimental error. The concepts in the article are pretty much consensus

"Basic Physics" means the underlying principles of physics. AIAA is reputable, but "underlying principles" is simply not a thing they do.

For those new to this, the emdrive is very likely bogus. 1. It violates Conservation of Momentum. If the phenomena is real, a large number of basic Physics principles would need to be discarded. 2. It was designed based on certain principle

You guys are all adorable software devs :-). You're trying to solve a problem with software that just isn't that big a deal: high endurance drives exist, or just buy a new one every year.

Continuous Integration systems can really burn through SSD endurance. If you have a large, compiled code base which rebuilds on every checkin, you will be creating and deleting object code constantly. Use smartmontools or HDD Guardian to ke

According to the fine standard, an implementation may #define NULL as either #define NULL ((void *) 0) or just plain #define NULL 0 The latter works correctly because a literal 0 in pointer context is interpreted by the compi

Definitely use the new stdint.h types[1]. That will make your intent a lot clearer. Also consider creating some macros for all common operations (like creating a uint32_t out of four uint8_t). [1] http://en.cppreference.com/

We have a product that uses ipv6 for inter-server communications. We've since learned that most major corporations routinely disable ipv6 on every computer. Not helping.

Real world things in C that may bite you: (a) char may be signed or unsigned so char a, b; ... short c = (short (a) << 8 | b); will not work to construct a 16-bit value from two 8-bit values. (b) NULL is not a useful macro.

In the US, Federal Law supersedes State Law. So yes, the Feds can override these rules for their own purposes. You could also point out that the State can also override State Laws. State Parks don't follow these rules either. I'm
