Interlace does not crossfade either :-) The purpose of interlace is to double the frames per second and capture motion better. The downside is some vertical resolution loss and some odd, but rarely seen, visual artifacts.

The image that tries to illustrate how frames per seconds affects motion is wrong. At least in my browser, it is crossfading between images in the 30 and 15Hz illustrations. That's not how video works: you show individual images sequen

Because even if life exists, we do not yet know where to look for it, or what we would be looking for. The surface is bombarded by UV and radiation, so very unlikely. Should we look in cliff shadows? Near ice deposits? The bottoms of crater

Sure. But there are a lot of areas where you just shrug and say "here be dragons" and move on. For example, consider the new for loop syntax for (auto item: a().b().c()) ... Does this make you nervous? It should. In the abo

The Dumbarton Rail Corridor seems like a good idea, but it's not going to work. The problem is that Dumbarton commuters have a large "fanout"; that is, they come from all directions in the east side, and commute to locations

Yikes that sounds bad. Will need to see the details to be sure though. So here is how Santa Clara County handles the same issue already: every 10 years, they put on the ballot a one-cent sales tax. Along side it, they put a list of the proj

That's amusing but... those same users are likely to be using just altering their passwords a little like "passwd1" "passwd2", etc. You aren't gaining anything.

The 68K is a complex and full featured CPU, so there is a lot of tedious detail to be done that has nothing to do with the overall concept of "design a CPU". For example, there are so many instructions that it took a couple of day

The core problem is there is zero evidence that a whole-body scan saves more lives than are lost due to the radiation of a whole-body scan.

I have a new ford. There is a clearly labeled switch in the settings to disable data collection. I leave it enabled because they display critical parts of the data to me through a phone app.

Has to do that. Implemented a 68000. It was a stupid project. I learned nothing from the project that I had not already learned along the way with simpler toy instructional examples. And yeah, the double all-nighter and having one team memb

Whataboutism is unwise. Also, a "blacklist" is little more than a name for a list of boycott targets. Boycotts, and the expression of who to boycott, are fundamental to liberty. That liberty results in people using liberty for goo

There's a lot of places like you describe :-) Palo Alto is oddly not one of them. I don't know why PA is so unusual, but it is. Might be the safety. Might be the disposable income. Might be the lack of mainstream-style shopping an

You honestly value WeWork as a workspace, so I have a question: given the loss rates of WeWork, are you willing to pay 50% to 100% more money in the future for the space? What is your feeling about the willingness of others in the space to

I won't disagree with your ideas in general because I just don't know. But in the case of Palo Alto, this isn't true. Parking is just hard enough to find that people generally do walk once parked. And there aren't enough

When evaluating the price, consider that it is also a hotel room and comes with free meals. Compare it to air fare + hotel room for X days + decent meals for X days and the price becomes less painful.
