I try to explain to people the absolute absurd state of affairs that refined high quality goods are often cheaper from China than it is to import the raw materials. Our financialized economy is dependent on cheep Chinese goods and dodgy acc

The US is gearing up for a China conflict, there is a split between the prep for war with China now or sort out Iran first and then prep for war with China. It’s currently most obvious in the MAGA split but the dems are captured as well. AO

I like XAML, the whole point of it is tooling support which was undermined when the tools were so buggy for so long. Now that many of the bugs have been fixed and computers are much faster it’s become a really productive UI paradigm for me.

My google fu is failing me but this sounds a bit like Marissa Mayer’s no more small ideas at Yahoo memo. Also if I was a competitor this would let me know just how hard I would have to compete for Intel to give up.

By my observation IQ correlates to anxiety disorders so often people with high IQs tend adopt risk adverse behaviors to minimize that anxiety and that undermines opportunities for success. People with really high IQs tend to end up on the

Certainly expanding the cohort alone is sufficient to cause a drop in average IQ scores - which is exactly what I said. College is no longer a useful proxy for IQ score. I made no claim that college would cause IQ scores to increase and if

I guess I meant locally to the server not the client (edge). But also perhaps a very light model could be run on the edge. I built a porn detection filtering algorithm back in the Random Forest days, it worked well except for the French and

One of the reasons we cant have nice things. CSAM spam filtering is a bit of a moat for larger companies able to manage the costs of moderating it. I would like to see AI moderating of CSAM, perhaps an open weights model that is provided by

College grads average IQ had dropped from 119 in 1939 to 102 in 2022. For many jobs an IQ test would be sufficient to determine expected likelihood for long term success. College still teaches domain expertise but to a larger and less intel
