You're conflating ownership of people with ownership of a tool & voluntary employment. That's a pretty bad-faith argument to make.

From that article: > If you want an even more stark illustration of gravity’s effect on time, take the Sun - the team calculates that the Sun’s core is around 40,000 years younger than its surface. Wow!

I disagree, but I think I mainly put the agency on film producers / investors, and not on viewers. Super hero movies tend to be either sequels or in a series, and producers have recognized that these are low-risk, pretty decent guarant

Agreed, but to clarify-- django's runserver is a simple restart process upon file change. Webservers don't have heavy startup costs, so that's fine. Being able to modify code during a run, where it has a heavy startup cost, i

I definitely stress-ate during puberty b/c of how shitty middle & high school were. I still have a 25.5 BMI which is just into the overweight category. (And I know BMI is not a perfect diagnostic tool, but let's just say I sti

You should read "The Vital Question" by Nick Lane. He puts forward a theory for what the first life might look like, based on the shared common genes between bacteria and archea. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that y

Yeah. And isn't GoodReads linking to Amazon what makes GoodReads Goodreads? I was expecting Stack not to include any links like that. I guess I just don't know what "anti-goodreads" means.

Solar sails are good for inter-planetary travel, but they aren't going to move the needle for launching off of a planet with 2g gravity! You need something that is compact and would give you a big impulse. As a KSP engineer would say,

Evolution is an iterative process and _every iteration_ has to be able to live and reproduce. It's limited by what it can do. Like, just look at laryngeal nerve. It's pretty dumb that the nerve has to go around the collarbone. But
