Do you have a LinkedIn account, GitHub account and/or blog? Those are the three avenues recruiters find me by, and LinkedIn dominates of the three.

I'm currently writing a tool to package up sprite tiles for the Neo Geo[1], which handles graphics in a very similar manner as the CPS1. I can't imagine composing these tiles manually, what a monumental task. The Neo Geo's ha

To the creator of this tool: please consider starting games muted and having a mute toggle button. Yes these are games but it's still surprising to have music playing as soon as the tab opens. I had to scrambled to close the tab.

I'm the same way. I get where the OP is coming from, logically WASD mimicking a d-pad does make sense. But in reality arrow keys are easier to use. Human brains are weird. I'm right handed btw.

They also eliminate subtle bugs that can emerge from `this` being mutable in classes, and they make the React lifecycle more intuitive. Rather than thinking about whether the component did mount, will mount or will unmount, you just associa

I find their stick vacuums are complete junk. I'll never buy a Dyson again. They get clogged almost every time you use them (you gotta either jam a butter knife down the main intake or take apart the filter, both susceptible to blockag

I agree with a lot of what the author is saying. But they are missing a really important point. The number of people willing to make blogs or static websites versus the number of people now on the internet is staggeringly small. My Mom will

My TV is from 2012 and I'm not all that worried about it failing. Modern TVs don't draw much power, nothing inside them gets very hot, no moving parts, etc. I would be surprised if I don't get ten more years out of it.

I also feel like marketing has gotten much much harder in recent years due to extreme saturation of products. Take games for example, there were 11,000 released on Steam this year alone. I've noticed over the past couple years a lot of

Why does that make him an asshole? It's his project, he's free to do as he pleases with it. Even my very modest open source projects sometimes get people demanding I fix or change something. It's ridiculous. It's like th

Doesn't the reverse hold true too? If you rely on software you paid $0 for and it fails you, you got what you paid for.

To me the real reason to not do them is outlined in the "useless work" section. They add surface area, support and maintenance to a project for essentially no gain. For a project as popular and visible as curl, I'd imagine av

I don't think that's HN and ycombinator. The original intent of HN was to support yc, an incubator that creates semi-giants like Airbnb and DoorDash. If push really comes to shove, most people here are going to look out for themse

At least in the case of the Neo Geo core, the chips were decapped and fully reverse engineered. I'm unsure about other cores. https://www.retrorgb.com/furrtek-demonstrates-decapping-proc...

I did a coding interview over the phone with Google. This was around 2006 maybe 2007. I did it in my car with a notebook in my lap. I don't remember the question but it was "leetcodish"

I recently did a contract where I negotiated a 4 day week. Hard to measure, but my hunch is I still produced about the same level of output. But I was happier, and I also think I was able to make better decisions with the added brain rest.

I agree but I think there's a good balance: have a little "hover over me" widget. If you hate popups it's easy to avoid the widget, and it makes the hover experience more consistent as you move from line to line (assumin

I've found most everyone responds well to "on your left!" Many will wave and thank you, largely because most bicyclists provide no alert at all and instead just fly by (which is dangerous and rude).
