For this approach, how do you tie the two pieces together (e.g. the Java and Rails parts)? Do you have recommendations for where to start learning about building one system with multiple languages?

This is the problem that GTD tries to solve. Omnifocus is a great piece of software that's built on this methodology http://www.amazon.com/Getting-Things-Done-Stress-Free-Produc... http://www.omnigroup.com/products/omnifocus/

To be clear, if this were actually the case, the $$ that Samsung spent on this suit would have clearly uncovered this as prior art.

This PDF put out by apple is fairly accessible and describes these measures in some depth if you're interested. http://images.apple.com/ipad/business/docs/iOS_Security_May1...

This looks awesome. Does anyone know of something similar for backend / program design (not UI, but actual code architecture)? I.e. step by step building of some application/program and watching how design decisions and refactoring decision

You're right, Im sorry. I thought that refs in the query string were used for affiliate links. Two questions - what DO affiliate links look like, or how can I tell? Also, can I delete that comment or edit it?

It's a bit insensitive to use your referral code for that amazon link if you ask me. Here's a non-affiliate link for everyone interested: http://www.amazon.com/Steve-Jobs-Walter-Isaacson/dp/14516485...

Does anyone know where you can see other user's org configurations? Or a canonical configuration? It'd be interesting to see how users use org-modes capabilities in different ways. (I don't mean blog posts, just raw configs)

I actually think that text has a fairly high information density rate compared to iconography. The perfect example of this is the command line. Power users tend to prefer a terminal because it is more concise than clicking around in a gui.

Care to share or put them on github or something? You don't need to comment them or anything. I find that looking at other people's scripts really helps me learn new ways to use the shell. Thanks.

It would be nice if they ran a facial recognition algorithm or something on their pictures. I've been forced to guess which one of my friends got tagged as their pet or as some beach.

Why do you say that tags can't represent the spatial organization of objects? Can't you lump similar things together, by putting them under the same tag?

Does this reflect poorly on the file abstraction, or the file picking interface that so many programs tend to use? If you were writing an email, would it really by more intuitive to first select what kind of thing you are attaching before d

I strongly dislike this trend. Imagine if in the real world, the only place you could put food is your refrigerator, or if a bookshelf only allowed you to place books on it. While it sounds nice to say that a person only looks through their

The 'spot' seems like an interesting piece of ui. I'm interested to see how effective it is in real world use. It also reminds me of the courier video, where users could clip out random parts of a webpage. edit: here's more of the ui, if an

I agree with you that it seems like there should be an upper limit. But if this article is correct about there not being a rebounding effect, then asking for an extravagant amount seems like your best move. Although I'm guessing that things
