There are so many different reasons, across the culture that this article is missing it. The government has introduced forced savings for Israeli employees, returned to the employees every 7 years. This means that EVERYONE (well, nearly) re

I'm happier with retext ( https://github.com/retext-project/retext ). Fully open-sourced, live preview, and taking ~50% less resources than Typora to deliver the same features. If I'm not using vim, I'm in

Exactly. You have to live with yourself forever. I'd much rather work to being the person I want to be, than letting someone else dictate who I am.

I love the idea - and it's definitely something I'll put through the paces on one of my projects shortly. Being able to separate the schema from data ingestion, and data transmission is a very powerful scale option for one of the

This is the sort of chilling effect that increased corporatization of society can have - but doesn't necessarily have to. Forbidding the sale of legal items, is a form of increased censorship, one society seems to be okay with.

Absolutely - rather predictably, but only within the segment I use. If you're an HFT trader you can't win. But if you have patterns you've noticed, can act on and encode... well quite frankly it's incredibly consistent o

Tell me about it. The whole thing makes me cringe. Frequently I wonder if the goal is just to have enough insurance, such that when people and their money are separated, life is fine.

It's rather sad that Canadian banks still view SMS as the best way forward. They'll text you, they'll email you, they'll validate over the phone... all of which are really this same problem. I'm waiting for the day

TIL there are people who still have cable. I assume it's just generational? I don't know anyone (including my parents) who have cable anymore - and that's very much limited to tech folks.

You're absolutely right. It's the reason we always use devpi for python mirrors, and firewall off CI. Ultimately you need to be able to rebuild the product when upstream goes poof.
