I'm with you. I hate paypal, and I love stripe. But I am not going to hand my card number to a merchant I don't know. I broke this rule once in 2016, and regretted it. If merchants would display a "Processed by Stripe" e

I don't know much about the strict definition, but that's how I use them. I have had several clients that want to analyze data they didn't capture in their schema. I'd say: disk is cheap. Throw everything in there (medic

Stuff changes. Today's young Turks, when factoring in the time and energy to get to the point they would be listened to, will have antiquated skills too. Old people can certainly keep up! But corporate climbers often can't (I do k

The thing I loved about the 68k was how quick it was to wire wrap (breadboard) a fairly serviceable terminal sitch, from where one could bootstrap development of devices and then programs and then more devices. This was all pre-linux (but p

If that's what people (that are not you) wanted, then it would happen. You could, of course, use political means to force people to fund your preferences, but that kind of a sucky move, don't you think?

It's a huge issue that I work with an international team on. It's also almost politically impossible to address in the us. Technology (for safe isolation of waste) is not the problem. Democracy is. So, it collects in aging leaky d

I can't speak to "most founders", but those who have impacted me the most (like Jimmy Treybig) or even my own experience ... I have not found this to be true. Maybe I just need to get out more...

Serious question- what kind of programmer is not familiar with assembly ? I'm old - and binary is how one would bootstrap a new computer, and assembly was an hll.

I'd forgotten it was that early. The Sun box on my desk was a 68020 with a 68881. Everything having to do w/ FP, certainly on our DSPs (which is silly), we had to implement a knock-off of IEEE 754 in software ourselves.

Fair enough - there were bugs in specs (like the X.509 letting you attach arbitrarily large image or blobs), but mostly I found that the compilers were buggy. Whenever (way back in the day) we (our/my company) did SET (secure 3P "
