It uses UPI payment system which is also used by Google Pay here. So irrespective of the app you use, you can do a direct bank to bank transfer.

Biggest UX challenge with Signal for a normal person is the backup and recovery step. Whatsapp has made the process so seamless and Signal by design just cannot do it.

Take photo of the qr code with any camera and open the image in Google photos. Google lens will detect qr code and do the rest

Telegram is getting really popular in India for bigger groups such as those in building societies and for parents in schools as they allow for more members. For one to one communication I don't see a change happening soon.

You're right, but for a normal person Facebook meets the needs and that too without the hassle the details of contacts updated.
