Humm, will nginx enable header compression this time? Their HTTP/2 module disabled the hpack dynamic table, as I recall. Will they serve us again a poor-man QUIC and tell us "it's all fixed in the paid version" again?

Refinements was also at some point marked as "experimental", and jruby maintainers have at some point declared not wanting to support it. It's 2020, refinements are still here, and jruby supports them, even with all its imper

Its an important change, but not huge, at least not yet: it's not yet integrated in the GC, which means you have to explicitly request it. And most of the fragmentation comes anyway from the allocations heap. That being said, I think t

Thx! I don't have any plans to integrate them, as I don't use any of them. But it should be trivial to create a plugin for them using the httpx plugin system: https://honeyryderchuck.gitlab.io/httpx/wiki/

True, there are indeed a lot of common goals, and even features. Even our debug flag (HTTPX_DEBUG) is the same. Is that a python pattern? Good luck in our work!

Thx for the kind words. I thank, but will not accept financial contributions from individuals. Feel free to use it, modify it, or talk about it to your colleagues :)

httparty is a dsl wrapper around net/http, so it's also limited by it. For instance, it doesn't come with keep-alive support (I'm using httparty in my dayjob legacy code). httpx is more than concurrent connections. It&#x

That one seems more recent. Would be cool to know if ruby's httpx was the inspiration behind it (I can only judge looking at the name :) ).

There are timeouts involved, that is, you'll get error responses. Feel free to try the example scripts.

Hi, I maintain httpx. I'll try to answer your concerns. The API was not a question of preference. If you look at most http lib APIs (python requests included), a single call returns a response object. My goal was to keep compatibility

This article focuses too much on the developer role in the coding skills challenge, portraying the companies as bystanders waiting for a result. Usually the problem comes with the evaluation. If you're asking a senior to bring a differ

The URL matching engine, mustermann, breaks a few things, and it's now a separate component. Also, it's now supporting rack 2, which required some changes.

Although correct use of the feature is still debatable, interoperability with CDNs is not. The link header standard is the de-facto way to communicate with frontends about what to push.

It's mostly a trade-off of what's more important to you: round-trip or bytes. The client might have a cached-copy, but it must (in most cases) revalidate it by requesting with cache-headers and getting back that empty 304 response
