Being from the UK originally, bbc was always my go to site. Recently I've found it incredibly annoying to access in the US, particularly on mobile. There is a full screen overlay add for every page view. Note that I don't use any

I don't think that's the issue being referred to. BBC.com has no advertising when viewed within the UK. Outside the UK it has a ton of adverts and tracking. So using UK VPN should get around those things.

The major downside, I think, of the US totally abandoning the stick shift is that in my experience the majority of rentals outside of the US are stick. I'm very aware of this in Europe, and I guess it would also be true in even less de

Personally I would look at the following combination of three metrics: - Last commit date - Gross Product Pull Requests - Number of regular contributors who have contributed in the last six months or so Then on top of that I would look at t

Great idea. Could you make the links to Amazon referrals so you can make some cash at the same time? https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/help/node/topic/2021023...

Tech has got me to the place where I finally have enough space to build a ramp in my backyard! Finished it just a few weeks ago, and it's a dream come true.

16 years on the board for me. From Cornwall, to Oxford, to Boston MA. Weird seeing the pictures of Sean Goff riding a sketchy ramp in Iffley Road in 87. He's still a regular at the new Oxford park, on the same spot as that ramp, and he

Iniesta moved to Japan. Also, Australia has 5200% less people than China, so not a great comparison. A better comparison would have been India, who have a comparable population but a heavy focus on cricket. https://www.cnn.com&#x

The answer for this particular course was, "very expensive". Each students machine shuts down after 20 minutes of inactivity (defined as no Jupyter process currently running), so that saves money, but in this specific instance man

Average class size of those using JupyterHub was more like 30, excluding two very large, very popular classes. Worth remembering all the classes have labs and sections which are much smaller.

The majority of the courses that utilize JupyterHub at the moment involve some kind of stats work. They use JupyterHub to ease people with little technical experience into using stats libraries and coding generally, with the aim of giving t

Yeah, we need to get back in touch with the Jupyter Project folks to see if there is anything we've done that might be useful feeding back into the project in any way. I'm not 100% sure on the Oauth stuff, I am but the lowly PM.

I can appreciate that feeling; my father was an electronics teacher in secondary school in the UK. It is true that we had to deal with some issues that might not have occurred had students gone through the process of setting up the environm

Most of the implementation is open source. Authentication module is separate as it's part of our Canvas app work, but it will likely be open sourced soon. We've also done implementations which authenticate via GitHub... https:&#x

It is worth noting that there is an argument that it is a worthwhile task for students to learn how to setup complex computing environments, as it better prepares them for the real world. However, in reality, there just isn't time with

At Harvard we've built out an infrastructure to allow us to deploy JupyterHub to courses with authentication managed by Canvas. It has allowed us to easily deploy complex set-ups to students so they can do really cool stuff without hav

This is 100% the reason why I prefer driving. It is a matter of control, even if the numbers prove that won't reduce the risk to my life. I'm almost as nervous as a passenger in a car as I am on a plane.
