Reads like GPT. But, it was still interesting to me. I hadn’t heard of Swiss tables before. The article links to the primary sources, to those who want to avoid reading LLM output: https://abseil.io/about/design/sw

An MPA can make as many queries/service requests as it needs to to render the result. Most— the vast majority of SPAs I’ve ever written, maintained, or used— do that from the client, making many requests to render the new route. The UX

I haven’t used it with htmx, but DOM morphing seems like it’s probably a good solution to this. https://v1.htmx.org/extensions/morphdom-swap/

I’ve been working on a similar idea, but focusing on MPA and progressive enhancement. Building MPAs on Bun using Preact as the backend templating engine and focusing on a low-dependency stack. I used the gov.uk style guides as my inspiratio

No. Fast builds are a must for a project like this, in my opinion. This is an important step towards making the project easier to maintain.

It's less than I'd expect, given how Bun was developed. I'm sure there's plenty more of that to be had in that codebase.

With Bun, I have a single dependency which gives me: bundling, runtime, package management, test runner, SQLite, Postgres connectivity, S3 utilities, sane APIs (compare Bun.serve to whatever the heck I had to do in Node), routing… Basically

Nice. How fast is your home internet connection? I’ve thought about putting an old laptop to this use. But I don’t want my day to day internet to suffer if my site gets traffic spikes. And also, I’m nervous about non-ecc ram.

Because, as you said, this is no longer news. Deepseek was the news. This is just the predictable progress playing out.

It found a zero-day. If someone non-maliciously breached my systems, I’d be grateful for the free security research.

Well, to play AI advocate, if it wasn’t destructive, you could argue they did huggingface a favor by giving them a free vulnerability scan and improving their security / hardening.

If they were Windows game developers, they wouldn’t have to touch any of that. I guess it depends on where their interests lie and what platform they developed on.

Dunno about that. I can fix a lot more stuff around the house thanks to YouTube. I have picked up a bunch of programming knowledge via the internet that I never would have without it. The internet has delivered on a lot of its promises.

Depends. Russia has a lot of natural resources and some good land. I imagine the world will take its cut as a return on whatever help we render.

I get ribeye pretty regularly for $10/lb on sale in South Carolina. But, yeah. Normally it’s $15/lb here. Not something I’d be eating regularly.

iOS has gotten worse. No doubt about it. I don’t think k that’s AI induced. I think Apple have lost the plot. On the other hand, Fedora + Niri + Foot + Podman + Neovim is better with each release.

If you run it on your one app server, it’s not much more work than SQLite. SQLite requires some special care when you’re dealing with multiple processes, and backups are about the same amount of effort.

Hm. A quick search suggests that 70 countries out of 195 have daylight savings time, with a fair number of those considering abolishing it. Most of those are in Europe. 73 countries have abolished DST, and 106 have never had it in the first

There are plenty of northern climate countries that get by just fine without DST. Also, if it’s genuinely a problem in a specific location for some reason, that specific location can just say, “Let’s all start work at 9 rather than 8 for th

I’m with you, but it’s obviously a sensitive topic for a lot of folks, based on the replies. Some people’s brains are just wired differently, I guess. I rarely look at history, other than git blame. For me, history does not need to be granu
