You can choose any kinds of destinations for Duplicati. Even a local place. I personally use it with Google Drive.

You could try using Duplicati. It has a Web GUI. You could also just create the configs at home and then export it! You could also just invoke it from CLI.

How is it morally wrong to throw away something I know I'm not going to finish? What am I supposed to do with it? I can't buy smaller sizes. It would be morally wrong if I bought 5 loafs of bread and threw out 4. Then I agree.

I'd prefer LXD / LXC anyway. Sadly, LXD porting to Debian is a slow process.

In the case of Docker, containers = prepackaged ready-to-use out of the box software. Basically, you run some software (e.g. mysql) inside a docker container and it comes with everything it needs preconfigured and installed (e.g. libraries,

There is also the fact that things stay inside a container (more or less). You want to remove mysql? No problem, just discard the container. Compare that to removing mysql and all its config files etc. from all over the place.

by chrisper 9y ago
Well, we need to differentiate between application containers (Docker) and Linux containers (old:openVZ, new:LXD/LXC). Then there are application containers which are even more "limited," like Flatpack. I'd argue that on
