So for example. We have a root ca for everything. Then created an intermediate for the infrastructure (posgtres, etc). We also created an intermediate just the API, from which we issue client certificates for API access. This is just for se

Good article, if for no other reason than the internet is littered with "self signed certificates are bad", which is true for most scenerios except for those pointed out in this article.

If you're going to roll your own CA to secure your infrastructure, get in the habit of also creating your own intermediate authority, esp if you're going to do some minimal client certificates. Then you can keep your root ca offsi

It's called misdirection. Leak that you're leaving Hk, via Russia, via Cuba. That take a completely different route. Tradecrafty.

Funny. I simply put "I'm not interested in recruiters or open positions at this time. I will mark them as spam." at the top of my profile. The spam connection request have stopped completely. I used to have this in my 'how to contact me" sp

Sure. On the flip side, since no one has a gun at home, people are not afraid to rob or invade your house. A ban isn't the answer either.

I'm also a Consolas user. For me, Inconsolata and SourceCodePro have the same issue: the horizontal placement of @ drives me nuts.

There's a saying in nursing: "If it's wet, dry it. It it's dry, wet it." I think we need the same thing in programming. If it's slow, make it faster. If it's unreadable, make it readable. If it's coupled, decouple it. Then just stop worryin

I'll go one recommendation further. Just don't couple user and account. When making a factory named after a model, only set model attributes and never set relations. factory :user # sets only user fields, no relations factory :

I could also argue that's exactly WHY to use factory girl in unit tests. You're not using FG to create the things under test, only the things to pass to the thing under test. Complexity is a moot point for those extraneous objects. You want

Let's not forget, most of the large credit card hacks over the last years happen to merchants who are either PCI compliant, or to processors themselves. PCI is not what it's cracked up to be aside from being a pita.

Or. Operate the startup outside of the country in question. Regulations be damned. Innovate first. Ask forgiveness later. Be noisy about governments trying to squash innovation in the press. They hate that.
