Had the same thought. It's an annoying additional piece of information on each notification, but considerably less annoying than them being abused. Also the risk of false positives. It'd be possible for an app to have a high rate of disabli

The trick with a french press is to grind the beans just slightly coarser. If you aim for the consistency of sand, there's enough surface area to brew well in 3-5 minutes, but it's not so fine that you end up with a mouth of grit at the bot

Heh. Nice idea. It uses the old NextStep AppKit classes (rather than OpenStep, which Cocoa descends from) so you'd have to reimplement them, possibly as wappers around the modern AppKit api. It might also depend on some older features of th

I've never used this, but it seems to gives you the API at least, even if it might run a bit slower without kernel support. It also provides a c++ wrapper that will work with c++11 lambdas, so it doesn't even depend on clang. http://openso

Exactly. Claiming that Philosophy never answers anything makes one hell of a selection bias. When Philosophy answers something, it ceases to be Philosophy.

So have they restored the ability to use Win32 in VS Express? Or just the ability to write .NET/WinRT apps that target the Windows 8 desktop environment? It's not clear from the announcement.

Cool. Although since GC needs to be supported by all code in a process, it's not enough to just fork the GC and ship that. I'd worry that if Apple stop building the system frameworks (which you definitely can't fork...) with GC support, any
