It will soon! After playing around with their latest Signal 2.0 beta that integrates TextSecure support, I honestly would recommend using Signal unless you specifically need Tor/OTR or want to host your own XMPP infrastructure.

I'd love to make this happen, but it won't be possible unless they support open federation, which is currently impossible when using your phone number as the identifier. I do plan to support Axolotl in conjunction with our provide

I was excited about the possibility of federated XMPP over mobile hidden services, mainly because of the built-in NAT traversal. It could make creating a "good enough" XMPP server as simple as buying a cheap Android phone, install

Most people don't choose their devices like a developer would and instead focus on things like ease of use (or the best marketing campaign). Just because a platform doesn't offer completely perfect theoretical security and privacy

Have you seen libsodium [1]? It's a "portable, cross-compilable, installable, packageable fork of NaCl, with a compatible API, and an extended API to improve usability even further." I've been using it in a toy project o

Have you guys seen YapDatabase [1]? It is an awesome Obj-C key/value/collection store (and more) built on top of SQLite, that I originally started using instead of Core Data for its easy SQLCipher support. It's built by the v

Hey all, we put a lot of work into this year's iBurn over the last couple of weeks. We rebuilt the iOS app from scratch this year and hopefully laid a solid modern foundation for future years. Hopefully it is useful to some of you! Eve

Congrats Seth! I had to unfollow you while you were making all those repos because it clogged my feed. GitHub should really put some work into improving their feed algorithm so one project can't just clog it all.

RTMP support is on our roadmap (and actually exists inside the SDK in a disabled state), and our live transcoding backend will have the ability to restream to any arbitrary RTMP endpoint in addition to the other outputs.

What do you mean by "share the costs"? Our pricing plans are based on usage tiers: https://kickflip.io/pricing

Yep, we manage all of the infrastructure so you don't have to. We should make our pricing more up-front but here is a direct link: https://kickflip.io/pricing

Yeah I made modifications to disable frame reordering and handle the extra SEI information properly, but I'll study your solution too because it seems really awesome. The lower the latency the better :)

I've done simultaneous hardware encoding before (two 640x480 videos) but I haven't pushed the boundaries yet. I have a hunch that newer phones might be able to do a few bitrates at the same time, but at that point we will do re-en

Wow, if only I knew about VideoCore earlier! I used a modified version of Geraint Davies temp .mp4 file hack, but it looks like you developed a great alternative.

Unfortunately Apple still doesn't expose the APIs that we need and are forced to use tricks to get the encoded frames. We based our hardware encoder wrapper on the technique described by Geraint Davies [1], but have modified and improv

I am working on a protocol-agnostic, federated push messaging layer for ChatSecure-iOS but it will be interesting to see if anything else pops up in the meantime.

Layer seems interesting but I think the reason XMPP ultimately succeeded was because of federation and a healthy open source ecosystem. We are drafting a federated, minimal knowledge push server design for privacy-minded chat apps: https:&

What really disappoints me about the current crop of VC funded messaging apps is that none of them care very strongly about user privacy. Even apps that claim to keep your messages "encrypted" are closed source and don't incl

Unfortunately you still aren't able to use your own hardware how you'd like on iOS, even with a developer account. Certain private APIs (like the VPN one)[1] require an "Entitlements" file linked to a provisioning profil
