I like to explain recursion by describing how I often write functions. I'll get to a bit where there's something complicated needed, like a loop with a lot of conditional logic. So I'll realize it's going to be complex

For example, we were taking an Uber through a part of a nearby city I'd never been in before, and approaching a confusing bit of roundabout, the driver leaned over to me and asked me which way to go :-(

I'd be interested to see comparisons with the "S3-alike" services like Wasabi [1] and BackBlaze's B2 [2]. Their selling point is that they're a lot cheaper, so performance comparisons would be interesting. 1: http

For whatever it's worth, I tried both Witeboard and Ziteboard with my iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, and they both worked great, tracking superbly.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! While I love books immensely, these days I just don't buy them any more. What I do is google answers to problems, and for guidance on how to do things. There's just so much fantastic information immediately av

But isn't each (say) chat room a single object, and each is single-threaded (per answer elsewhere on this page). It's nice to know that if "N" chat rooms get started, "N" instances are built, but if 100k people

Is this related to the visual puns in ASL? For example, holding "O" in one hand, and "L" in the other; have the "L" pass from behind the "O" to in front to sign "El Paso".

Really enjoyed both X-COM and also highly recommend Frozen Synapse. Great take on turn-based tactics... really liked how I didn't really know what would happen after setting up my moves!

So many great memories of that game! One thing they miss, in the intro about "plug into the success formula", is that there was a single-level demo on a floppy that came with one of the gaming magazines. The wacky thing about the

I wonder if there's any value in having a post to HN be, in effect, a "Draft", with a timeout of (say) half an hour. You write it up, but you have time to reconsider and edit before it "goes live" and you're (

Yeah, that seems like a step in the right direction -- don't think I want all the images, just the text, but I'd guess that's an option. Wonder if you could hook that in through a local proxy...
