That is very true and something that I hadn't given thought to. Still, consider how much greater the confusion would be if, for example, you had to remember to get up at midnight, eat lunch at 5am, go to bed at 4pm and so on.

Ironically, this idea would make international travel more difficult in some respects because, when travelling to what today is in a different timezone, you would have to memorise a different set of times for when to get up, go to and from

I never understood why ISPs think that bandwidth heavy sites ought to pay them. Surely if a user is wasting bandwidth on sites like YouTube then the ISP should ask the user to pay for that bandwidth. Why don't they do that?

I think it's been quite encouraging that, while they are talking about a whole load of features that they'd like to include in the future, they're being pretty clear about the things that they won't support in the first release (landing on

Does anyone have any data on the number of normal users vs power users that Gnome actually has? The worry has to be that, if Gnome stops targeting "people who tend to use Linux" then there's a strong chance that they'll fail to attract enou

It sounds like you're saying that Gnome 3 is now targeting non-nerds and that nerds should use something else. Fair enough I suppose. The thing that's incredibly frustrating from my perspective is that Gnome 2, for me at least, was perfect.

Would you mind talking about it a bit more then? Tell us what aspects of Gnome 3 are great and what's great about them?

Are you aware that the name wish already refers to the wish shell that comes with tcl? http://www.tcl.tk/man/tcl7.6/UserCmd/wish.1.html

Indeed. When a large company has a problem, there are an awful lot of people in that company who aren't empowered to fix it.

One problem with this is that it trains the user to ignore a security warning which might not be crying wolf next time.

Don't forget that many bands consist of kids in their late teens and early twenties who might be more naive than you are and who may not have a full understanding their chances of making it big vs getting screwed over.

Quite a few artists/bands have crowdfunded albums on pledgemusic ( http://www.pledgemusic.com/ ). This seems to work reasonably well for established artists that already have a decent fanbase but I'm not so sure about how well it would work

That doesn't address the central part of taligent's comment. Yes, Google is an advertising company but they fear a future where their products (and therefore their adverts) are frozen out of smartphones. If Android didn't exist and the iPho

In order to reduce the computational overhead on the server, perhaps one option is to run (at least part of) the hash on the client (eg in Javascript). Does anyone have any idea of how that would perform and if it would be feasible?
