I know the answer to this one! We need these guys to setup at the other end of a Level3 link, and then Verizon customers can push them one byte for each byte they get from Netflix: http://devnull-as-a-service.com Imbalance fixed

I see two issues not addressed by the other comments: 1) I would start with a 2x2 plate not a 2x2 brick. They are heavier per height, but I think they will also be much stronger because the weight is not supported by the sidewalls alone. 2)

Thanks. It looks like I was wrong. I understood that there was some redundancy build into chips, but that appears to be false. After some more research I think you are right that only the voltage/clock rating vary die to die, and that

No, many of the current Intel processors come off of the same fab and are intended to be identical, but the devices that test worse become the lower spec versions. A quad core i7 with a core that performs significant'y below the others

In addition to the pay issue addressed in all of the other answers so far, the top tier programmers are also likely to be looking for more stable employment. A single college grad with no experience can take a gamble on a startup, but someo

For those in the US that aren't aware: Swedish workers already get a lot more time off, and seem to value it as part of the culture. I am collaborating with a tech worker in Sweden and last week I got an email that ended with "I w

You get requests with a note explaining why they want to connect? I don't think I have ever seen anything other than the default message.

I wonder if I can get my boss to do something similar. With you, for example, I can see that I should email you on Tuesday not Friday if I have a choice.

If you are going to take it seriously you have to put some effort into the advertising also. It is good to hear some success stories in the comments but, the iOS store at least, is getting full. I think I put together a decent game with uni

money for both and heavy multitasking says to me that you should get a Mac (MBA or MBPr) you can work on, and a big workstation running Linux that you remote into for your serious jobs. I would always want more computer, and even the bi

You should probably research patent law and see if that is something you would be interested in. I am sure that Chevalier's comment is true for many types of law, but it is a big field, and some branches may be better than others espec

Android may technically be Linux, but I am not sure I would count it as a step towards changing the desktop computer people get for their home. Chromebook is similar- as far as I can tell it just runs one browser window. This makes it mor

I am pretty disappointed with our name handling also. I was helping an Iraqi move to the US, and someone translated his name as Hogar instead of Hoger on one document, and it cost him a few months. As far as he was concerned his name doesn&

I am not at all surprised that this worked. The biggest problem for mainstream linux is poor advertising. People with limited computer knowledge are just scared of change, and honestly, if no one knows how to pronounce Ubuntu then they are

I am sure that requirements like this aren't that unusual (the NIH requires grants to be submitted in one of 3 fonts), but an arbitrary rule shouldn't be confused with a compatibility issue.

I had always heard this was illegal, but it turns out it is ok as long as you are conducting a legal transaction. It is discouraged, but legal.

Are customers really held accountable for ATM fraud? I have found credit card fraud to be handled well by my bank (USAA). The primary reason I use a credit card is because I am not sure how ATM/check card fraud is handled.

It appears that the buyer didn't consider that they bought a stolen MBP. My first guess after reading this is that the real owner discovered their computer was stolen. This is a good reason to test and change the iCloud account while t

I am one on the cheapest people I know, but I did end up spending a little money on my icons. I started with a good sketch, and sent it to a friend who does graphic design. I can program, and I can put together some hardware, but I know my

We had a hydraulic accumulator in the machinery for making MDF at work, and it scared the crap out of me. Priming it involved filling the reservoir with roughly 10 standard high pressure nitrogen bottles, and then compressing that further.

I have a 13" MBPR, and I just plan to use it with an external monitor all of the time. Even 15" seems small. I figured most people with laptops as their primary computer attach a display unless they are on the go, so the 15"

I think killing babies is a big jump from making heavier passengers pay more. The airlines already consider weight in their cost when you pay for baggage.

I am sorry if I have hurt anyone's feelings. Having someone lean on you for 5 hours because they don't fit in their seat is extremely unpleasant. I thought "invading personal space" would be the polite way to put this.
