For the love of God, hold a 50% neutral grey card next to the dress and take a picture with proper white balance so that we can all continue with our lives!

Why doesn't anyone make a real PC with GPIOs? I am sure there are at least a few hackers out there who would be interested but if you want real high speed GPIOs you need either expensive hardware like a special card from National instr

I had only a rough understanding of floats myself, so I put together an iPad app to help promote self learning in this area. Seeing how they are put together really helped me to get a better grasp of the resolution of floating point numbers

The pay might be high but the average career is much shorter than that of a programmer. I bet the lifetime earnings aren't even that much different than the average person checking HN from California.

I am a mechanical engineer, so the rules might be slightly different, but I have been told: If you want a job in industry you are wasting your time getting a PhD, and if you want a government or academic job then you are wasting your time d

My wife said something similar about morphine: "Did you know your hand hurts really bad while you are just standing there right now? You have no idea until you have morphine and it gets instantly better."

When I was 6 I was certain that this was already happening, and that if I just yelled loud enough my friends could hear me over the rest of the laugh track on my favorite shows.

I have no problem believing that they have a higher threshold for approving apps that cost more money because of the expectations that come along with a high priced app in their store. A slightly buggy app offered for free could still be

Threshold breaking, where you stop as hard as you can with out locking up the wheels, is probably better than relying on ABS, but it requires training and practice, and doesn't enable the per-wheel breaking that modern ABS provides. My

I have a strong personal stake in this one right now. I am the parent of a 2 month old who can not get the MMR vaccine for another 10 months. Knowing that I have to take my daughter on a commercial flight in the next few weeks scares me, es

Congress can not directly force a change, but they are the ones that pass the budget, so they can apply a lot of pressure to a federal agency.

I am surprised. I always thought that increasing low salaries was good for the economy because those people generally put 100% of their take home pay back into the economy. On the other hand I put a large percentage of my pay into savings (

I think a lot of anti-vax stuff might be fixed with Fox News encouraging people to get vaccines. I don't get the impression that the documentary watching crowd overlaps with anti-vaxers too much.
