Joe's main motivation of this, it seems, is to unify the shell and the modules. Whereas you could not define a module in the shell, and whereas you could not define multiple modules in a single file, with Erl2, both are possible. And the f

Great story about interfaces designed by people who don't use the software. I've been encountering similar bad interfaces as I've been working volleyball tournaments mainly to learn how large scale tournaments are run and frankly the softwa

I'd say those are pretty significant advantages for someone who wants to use it as a reading-only device . It's nice to take the kindle on vacation and read out on the pier in ultra-bright sunlight and charge it exactly never.

Take an interest you currently have that isn't tech related and start solving it. In my case, sports league websites suck (or at least the volleyball leagues I've played in), and I got fed up enough to do something about it. There's alway

Interesting. I may try my hand at learning some Erlang NIF creation using this. Then I can benchmark it against Bob Ippolito's mochijson2 module. Could be a fun little exercise.

Light and amusing (as one would expect from the title). I chortled at Haskell. I'm struggling to think of a vehicular parallel to Erlang. Maybe the Bluesmobile with the megaphone on the top? Sends messages and survives many crashes?

If you're going to throw everything and the kitchen sink in a language, you may as well include Erlang-type multiprocessing and message passing.

Great responses. Best of luck to you guys. I'll be sure to bookmark your stuff and follow the progress, and if/when I come across a screen-sharing need, I'll definitely use yours. Another option for you for monetizing: customer rebranding.

Three thoughts: 1) Can I safely assume you're working on a way to share desktop control, for things like tech support? Seems like the next semi-major logical step. 2) Out of curiosity, how do you plan to monetize this beast? Freemium, wit

Note that while I generally like the Erlang syntax, there's one main issue where syntax quirks come back to bite me: the combination of Erlang records with a missed line ending. This topic comes up on occasion on the mailing list and appare
