Probably just ignorance. ncurses should work for all POSIXes I think.

To get one of the big things out of the way: bandwidth. The FCC don't want anyone taking up big chunks of spectrum without using a license or service appropriate to that use. Notably, they don't want a few users to be able to chew

It failed to convert the diacritics for me with LC_ALL="tr_TR.UTF-8" matching my /etc/locale.gen. Kapı açık -> KAPı AçıK However this worked: gawk '{ print toupper($0) }'

Wow yeah that's rough :( It's legible for me but this whole font disaster looks like a brower-by-browser minefield

Ah, this helps a lot with understanding the design goals. Thank you. The synchronization consequences are a bit disappointing, but hard to solve around I suppose.

Yeah the follow buttons confused me for quite a while. I thought I was following a bunch of folks at first glance. Then I realized they've flipped the sense of outlined/solid buttons!

CSS is seeing this stack on FF for me: "TwitterChirp", -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, "Segoe UI", Roboto, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif I'm getting Roboto on Linux which (a) looks great and (b) is very similar to

The new font doesn't even have Arabic characters in my browser. It just gets rendered in Segoe UI. Which is fine, for what it's worth.

It's very similar to Roboto. Noticeable differences side by side, but very similar.

It's extremely similar to Roboto, which is how it was rendered for me before the change. So it seems almost like nothing happened.

Trying to wrap my head around how this works when distributed. If v7 is used with a high time precision, it's important that each node in the distributed system have a very tightly synchronized time, right? If so, with v7, I'd fee

The Russians know as well as the rest of the world does that AIS is totally unauthenticated and wildly spoofable. Any indication by a navy that they were provoked by an AIS track is therefore probably just theater.

I think most would be served well by using Alpine images. In my experience their quality is quite high. Unfortunately as mentioned, musl is a non-starter for a number of uses.

Stunning to me that so few people use Firefox. It works nearly flawlessly for everything I do, no worse than any other browser including Chromium. And it's clear they actually care a little about privacy and democratic standardization.

I dislike Outlook 365 because of a number of UX design decisions, but I can't say it works poorly on Firefox for me.

For better or worse (better, I'd argue), I don't think browsers want you to drive the browser for the customer. My takeaway from most modern browser security developments is that if you can't do it with the standard APIs, you

The more I see distasteful things happening around Chromium, the more exclusively I use Firefox these days. And frankly I have had vanishingly few problems using FF alone.

Alpine is indeed a fantastic experience for many use cases. But for me, it falls just short of being totally usable as a desktop/laptop OS because of the lack of package support for important things that require glibc. I'd love if

For the many of you mentioning poor Linux support on the T2 macbooks, check out t2linux.org. They're doing good work but I'm sure could use some help. I too would love an MBP than could run Linux well.

It's really a shame. I'm in the same boat as you. I'd buy their machines instantly if I knew I could install my distro of choice. Last I read, Windows-via-Bootcamp was basically dead, and despite the efforts of e.g. the t2lin

Never used Teams. Skype, which I last used years ago, was certainly better as far as downloadable chat clients go. Google Meet runs circles around Zoom, and I don't have to install anything.
