Society started to accept it. It's still a major problem. Someone spending 6 or so hours a day video gaming in 2025 isn't seen as bad. Tons of people in 2025 lack community/social interaction because of video games. I don

Video game addiction is still absolutely a major thing. I know a ton of middle aged dudes who do absolutely nothing but work and play video games. Nothing else. No community involvement, no exercise, not social engagements, etc.

There are already kids, young adults, and adults who are "falling in love" with AI personas. I think this is going to be a much bigger issue for kids than people are aware of. I remember reading a story a few months ago of a kid,

Air travel is insanely safe, even in the shittiest countries. you only hear about the dozen or so crashes every year. You don't hear about the 30-40 million other flights that don't have issues in a year.

We also treat our cows with antibiotics that a lot of countries ban. A lot of our meat is also treated with chemicals that other countries ban. It's why Europe won't import a lot of US beef.

It's pretty easy to proxy your WordPress with cloudflare's cdn. Then your WordPress isn't hit very often. WordPress handles volume just fine. Nothing a HN hug would disrupt.

Usually a web server is a real simple add-on to an already established home network/lab. It's not necessary. Just a fun thing to do.

I was thinking that one could "roll their own repository" that scrapes githubs and then just throw that into f-droid. Probably already exists.

Some people just don't want to use AI and there are very legitimate reasons for that. Why are you so willing to teach a program how to do your job? Why are you so willing to give your information to a LLM that doesn't care about y

I grew up near/around/in Corvallis. $124k is quite a bit there. Food is cheap, you can find pretty cheap land/realty, etc. Overall it's pretty reasonable. That said, $124k is not a lot for what Lance does.
