It's a currency, but I don't see how it is crypto. No mining, centralized control by a few validators. Old wine in new bottles.

If you don't need offline solution, I think you can use them even without iOS13.

TeX Writer developer here. Very flattered to be included in the author's workflow. Sitting at the core of this process is WorkingCopy, which has the most sensible integration with Files app that it simply keeps all files local. After o

Over the years, I have moved most of my VPS to vultr, and now only 1 droplet left in DO. This story again proves my mistrust towards them. I don't like AWS because it's too complicated for my use, but now I think we better have so

They can charge anything they want as long as third party appstores are allowed.

This is indeed the elephant in the room. All app developers, except spotify, are too terrified to directly confront with Apple. That's the chilling effect of a true monopoly.

A very good read. I didn't expect a court opinion could be written in such clear language.

No, you can't distribute apps directly to customers. That's why Facebook's certificate got revoked by Apple. [1] https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2019/01/facebook-and-google-...

Given what she went through in her own trial and jail, when she said "nothing more to offer", I think it's not hard to believe that they already got everything out of her. How the grand jury could think otherwise is beyond me

In that case you need to pay those spies, while at this moment you just run a database query.

This is a shock. I have been following his twitter and all is looking well. Learned a lot from his erlang paper. Wish I had the courage to write him an email and thank him. I can't believe it.

Apple doesn't have to pay because Google is so generous as to allow them to link to their own payment method.

Well, why don't Apple Music pay its "fair share" of 15%~30% to Google since it's hosted on Google Play? They are also using Google's tools and ecosystem.

We can also say Apple Music wouldn't be the business today had Spotify not explored the business of music streaming years ahead. Now they just took the idea themselves and pretend that Spotify contributes nothing.

From what they posted, 30% is not the main reason of their complaint. I guess it's more about that they now have to face Apple Music, which has such a huge advantage over them, no fee, better OS support, .etc.

Kudos to Spotify! Somebody has to do this, and from the time line posted, they really suffered. Amazon's Kindle team probably should chime in too..

Warren's Amazon coffee maker argument is pretty convincing, but the author focuses on the history of bing and google, that's a big turn off. Shouldn't the author come from the perspective "Where Warren's Right"
