Any sane computer architecture should assume high availability of stack memory. The idea of preserving a memory block to replace stack won't buy you anything. Btw: why not write a test instead of just guessing?

I, for one in many others, love the iPad at the first sight, because that is obviously the only way that an ideal tablet could be. As a customer, I surely don't like the idea only Apple could produce tablets in this shape and size. OK, 5 y

Yes, these files are the essential part of a boot disk. Did MS forbid people transfer boot disks when they were still selling DOS? The emulator only runs on ARM cpu(at present works only for jailbroken iPad/iPhone). You can download it (fre

First of all, No GPL violation here. The BIOS rom is licensed under LGPL, as long as you do not build it in the executable, you are not violating anything. Users can replace this component freely. The disk image is formatted with "/S" optio

Developer here. Take this as a proof of concept. New update (a native one) will change everything. Btw: 1. The 486 emulation engine I have been working on is intended for DOS game emulation. It happens to be fast enough to run TeX, although

OK, now I guess event queue can also be lock free. Use one lock free queue as the article described for incoming events from the producer, and another queue with the event sorted by the consumer.

This sounds great for priority queues. But how about an event queue, where every event has a time tag?

by chj 14y ago
Sometimes the producer has to insert something in the middle of the queue, is it possible to make this queue lock free?

First of all I don't understand why this is HN-worthy. China was a super power before, I mean, long before there was a USA. There is no reason why it can't be again. And keep in mind that Germany became a super power from nothing in less th

Honestly exams are very weak once you really get the idea of what you are learning. I can absolutely know nothing about what I am learning and get a very high score in the exam. Richard Feynman also pointed this out during visiting years in

Another useless paper. The deep call stack problem exists in any kind of parallelism. And use multiple processes can be safer but the complexity is actually the same.
