Speaking as an addict, yes most regular users are. It's not the same kind of addiction (emotional, not physical) but it's still addictive. If you smoke weed every day for a year, and stop, for the first year you stop, your suicide

It's simple for the malware to check. For instance, you don't want to hit a Russian oligarch's laptop w/ ransomware just because his GPS says he is in another country. You don't want to trust the outbound ip because

There are lots of malware families. Russian hackers, scammers, and such are basically celebrated in Russia for attacking the west. But they get in big trouble if they screw anything up inside Russia. Hence, the "safety mechanism"

Yeah the shoving is stupid. They are trying to accelerate it because there is so much FUD around LLM code generation slowing down adoption. All the biggest model shops (MS/DS/Anthropic) are at an extreme advantage right now. Inter

Not only is it good for the product, but in this case we are talking about Gemini Pro, one of the top models in the world. It's good for the engineers involved too. In 5 years, developers not using LLMs for code generation are going to

You are correct that inference speed per $ is not optimized with this purchase. What is optimized is the ability to find tune medium size models (~200GB) / $ You just can't get 500GB of VRAM for less than $100k. Even with $9k Blac

Right on. I also have a laundry list of ML things I want to do starting with fine tuning models. I don't mind paying for models to do things like code. I like to move really fast when I'm coding. But for other things, I just didn&

I did not say that I don't see the value in training juniors. I said that I don't have a need for them anymore. I can teach Claude in 1 API call what takes a day to walk a junior through. Furthermore, I think we are going to find

Meh, AI doesn't have to kill copyrights. The two oppressive systems will find a way to unite into something worse than either of them alone.

The way I feel about this is. 1. It's going to pass 2. It's not going to get overturned by this Supreme Court 3. It's going to have the biggest impact on the world of any law. Right now, The US and China are in an AI war. The

Yup, I'm spoiled by Claude 3.7 Sonnet right now. I had to stop using opus for plan mode in my Agent because it is just so expensive. I'm using Gemini 2.5 pro for that now. I'm considering ordering one of these today: https:&

Currently I'm using gemini 2.5 and claude 3.7 sonnet for coding tasks. I'm interested in using models for code generation, but I'm not expecting much in that regard. I'm planning to attempt fine tuning open source models

I didn't want to lose my many months of uptime for a lan party back in 1999/2000 and we used the UPS to migrate my linux box across town for some Quake 3 Arena action. Things were so much simpler back then.
