Yep, I could do with a simple thumbs up/down rating system as I usually only rate books either 1 star if I don't like them or 5 stars if I do like them. The multiple stars rating system is pretty pointless to me.

I don’t know if you have seen the trash heap of bad apps that is on the App Store. It gives the distinction impression that Apple does not reject bad apps, only apps they don’t like for arbitrary reasons. I do agree that the best solution w

Maybe our ideas of scale is a bit different? I think yaml files hold's up well to about 50 lines. I have only seen toml files up to about 10-20 lines and it looks great at that scale, but I am having a hard time imagining it being nice

SQLite is lovely to work with, but I don't think it is entirely appropriate as a configuration format for server software considering that all of the existing tooling for configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, CFEngine) is based on

Yeah, I think toml is great short/simple config files, yaml is good for medium length/complexity, and I have yet to see anything that’s not painful for long config files.

IP is a configuration option for most server software, it’s just that it usually needs to be set to 0.0.0.0 and that is the default anyway so most admins just leave it out.

Dismissing legitimate concerns by calling them "lazy" and "sceptics" is unhelpful. Stating your technology is safe due to "science and engineering" without explaining the science/engineering is unhelpful.

I don’t know how many times I have seen “best practices” used as excuse to avoid thinking. Usually by people who don’t even have the problem that the supposed “best practices” is meant to solve.

Most people with average computer literacy has no choice but to use the fluffybunny32428 style email addresses. To get a good email address these days you either have to be very early at jumping on a new email service or you have to be skil

I would assume that mail scanning is similar to the x-ray scanner at the airport, and any SD card or hard drive that cant handle that is useless. Could you imagine having your laptop and camera wiped every time you jumped on a plane.

My guess, is that they will comply by either giving the media a copy of their "Quality Raters Guidelines", or just setup an office where the media can send staff to sit at a slow computer and view a billion lines of source code.

Yep, Googles stuff looks nice, but I can’t afford to use their stuff. The time budget simply doesn’t allow for rewriting things more than once a decade, and even that’s a pain.
